HoAE has just gone region-restricted to me (I'm pretty sure I used to be able to find it through Steam) and I also suspect that the price has dropped to $5 USD.

If so, if there's anyone willing to swap, I'd be happy to gift a five dollar Steam game in exchange for it.
Weird. I see the game but it has no price tag nor buy option for it at the moment.

Yup, that's what me and someone else from Germany got - no price. I'm pretty sure it was Steam where I first realized it existed and, at the time, they were selling it for $15.

GamersGate has it for $10 but I'm shooting for $5.
Can see it in Japan too, but like Canada and the US, it has no price. I don't think this is a regional restriction. It's more likely that Valve ran out of keys.
Yeah, I coulda sworn I saw it drop to five bucks right before that happened. LOL.

So does Valve just go and get more?
I went to the developer's website to see which stores they were hosting it through. All stores listed have dropped it with exception of Amazon UK whom I didn't check because all of their stuff is restricted to UK only.

What I think has happened is that the game was not selling so all these sites pulled it.

And the reason for it not selling is because it had nothing to do with the promotional trailer for the game which features some strange time travel thing going on.

Also it was meant to be the first chapter of a series of stories but the series never continued.

As a game by itself, despite the story, I have read reviews were a number of different people actually like it.

I played the demo for a little bit and it's like Spellforce but more on the RTS side of things than Spellforce is.
Well it's not working in Mexico either. I can see the product page, and download a demo, but that's it.
Well, never mind about the trade thingy.

Now that I've realized what is going on, I madly and desperately, with all haste, ran screaming to GamersGate and spent the $10 to get a copy there.

Possibly. If they are aware of the problem and the publisher still has permission to assign new keys. For example, the reason Prey is no longer on sale on either Steam or GamersGate is because the publisher and developer are in a legal dispute. Thus no new keys can be obtained.

So, you probably made the right move getting it from GamersGate instead.

It also appears that I made the right move to get Prey for $4 when it was sale at GG last Christmas. 0_o
It's on sale at Greenman Gaming at 70% off for about 16 hours more. http://www.greenmangaming.com/games/heroes-of-annihilated-empires/

Yeah, I saw that there. It would be approximately $3 USD.

I really wish Greenman would do away with the client thing and set themselves up like GamersGate.
