I think it could be interesting to make a "Steam gifts official thread" or something like that. We are a good and global community with no trolls. We all can benefit of the restricted deals Steam offers.
PS: Yes, I know my english sucks, but I think I made my point.

I sold my copy of Half-life 2 to my friend for cash. And yet there was no problem. :)
I think, that trade for another game is not violaiting to therms. You just don't need to have those games and there is no evil on that you want profit from it.

Well, since you asked: Because I have every other game in the series (both normal Unreal and Tournaments) so I see no reason for not having the last one missing.
Besides, I really want to play it. Even if many people don't like it.

heh... i was thinking about the same idea a few days ago.
though the problem is that everyone has the same gift to give away (Half Life 2) and i wasn't sure there'd be many people who hadn't played it.
from valve's point of view, if you are giving/trading HL2 to people then they are probably new users to steam... so i guess it can only benefit them in the long run.
Wouldn't know how to price it either... as it's not something i even need.
PS/ what's up with everyone reading my mind and posting the exact same threads I was thinking about? I think i have some kind of brain spyware...

I think that GOG should make the quoting fancier. Is there a way to select only what you want, or do you have to delete the quote tags for what you don't want? I think it's a little unfair to expect everyone to dig through that quote code when they can hit reply so easily. That isn't to say you will catch me making weclock mad with the same issue...

I'm pretty sure there's plenty of others around trying to trade their extra HL2 and E1 with somebody for other games. The problem is everybody who cared seems to own the games already.
But I do hope somebody will eventually come along and accept the trade.
