Hey, since the search function didn't throw out anything about it via "Steam Game Sharing" or "Steam Game Borrowing" I thought I'd share this from Valvetime with you if someone didn't catch it. It's from Wednesday (yea a little late but it just came back to mind).

Long story short:
As it seems Steam will be implementing sooner or later a "sharing" or "borrowing" function between friends.

Any comments on that, I'd really like to know what you guys think about it. I personally look forward to it since if you don't have a game and a friend has it you can just try it out via the Shared Library and see if it is worth the money... I guess.

Interesting. I will be following this and see where it goes.

Too bad I do not have any friends :)
I'm too cynical to believe this is going to be that great, they will lose money on this unless they implement some nasty restrictions. Still in theory it could be great, at least of a way to try games you don't own but someone on your friend list does.
Wonder if it'll be like that P2P stuff which, ultimately, never happened.
Personally I think this is far more likely to be a 'Family account' type thing than a friend sharing thing, basically like what Microsoft was planning to do before they had to pull their DRM.

There's no question that this would be a restricted feature, probably enabled on a game-by-game basis by developers/publishers.

It might be like those free to play weekends. You can play the full game for a limited time but can't save progress.
it would certainly be cool, and bring them some great press, anyone else think somebody went oo the xboxone was on about family sharing ooo well do that...wow thats some bad press and it really does cause people to vote with there wallet...wait well do it and it gives us great press = bonus!

either way i think it could be a cool feature.
It means I will be deleting about 90% of my friends on Steam, so they won't constantly bother me to share my games.
Moochers are very attracted to me.

The other 10% of friends - I would love to share games with them, and I hope this article is true.
Could be interesting, could be experimental, could be just a PR bubble - no way to tell at this stage. After the Xbox presentation debacle, it's opportunistic to point out user-friendly features, and after years of restricting customers' rights, Steam suddenly _might_ be including a "game sharing" feature (the available info is extremely vague, there isn't even an official announcement, just some 3rd party speculation based on strings found in the Steam beta). It would be great if it actually came to pass, but the timing and Steam's previous history make me skeptical.

Me too, but at least there is some popular recognition that sharing should be allowed. One day somebody will get it right :)
Unfortunately pretty much all my friends pirate, so I'd be on the lending end. However, it would be cool if I can just click a checkbox and share my library with my friends, even if I only do the lending part. And I sitll may get my hands on the occasional game I don't own.
I wonder how this will work in practice. Do we get to play the game for 15 minutes, and then a big red text appears asking us "So, how are you liking the game so far? I see you're very into it. You know what, I'm just gonna go ahead and shut the game for you right....now, so that you can go buy the game from Steam Store that much faster. You already did the 25 GB install, but naturally you're going to have to download everything again because, you know, the 25 GB from before was just the code for this demonstration and we wouldn't want you to crack the game and play for free!"

So as you can see, I'm a little pessimistic so far. But hey, let's hope it will be a great new feature instead!

Haha, I didn't even think that far. Man, I'm losing my touch.

The best limit would be that between two people lending one each game is that the other's account will be locked as long as they are sharing so they can't both play each other's games at the same time.

I think there will be a time limit and a game list of available games, I bet they won't let too many AAA games be shared at first but maybe they are really going for a demo system of sorts which would be great, I just hope they don't try to push games on you because a friend has it, that would suck.
I really wonder why they would bother, since they're already so accepted by the masses.
