Ok, this thing was originally released for RISC operating systems and is still being sold for 20 pounds for RISC operating systems.

I'm not even sure what "RISC" is.

However I do know the game was ported to the 3DO and released for PC.

I originally purchased the PC version from an EB Games in Las Vegas during a vacation there one year.

Long story short, the game got lost or pawned and I managed to locate the data again.

I spent all day attempting to get it to run through DOSBox and managed to get it fully functional with sound effects but no music soundtrack or video (90's Software Preservation Societies usually removed such things because it made downloading through dial-up unbearable).

Either way, still today - this is one of the most enjoyable shooters that I've ever played involving both air and ground battles in over 100 levels.

Fednet Software (bit of a coincidental name for a software company) appears to no longer exist but this game would make for a massively awesome $5.99 GoG title if GoG could ever track down the missing music tracks and video and find someone out there whom they can purchase the rights from.

Ooooh, I remember playing the shit out of the demo I got from one gaming magazine on CD.
Very entertaining.

Yeah, I'm doing a little footwork with it to see if I can spark some interest. I could only find one conversation on the net about it (the PC port - there's a whole site dedicated to the RISC version) and it pretty much looks like no one cared enough about the game to try to get it to work in with modern day systems.

I had an Acorn Archimedes A3000 that had RISC OS 3 on it and I did play the Starfighter 3000 demo. Thought it was great but I couldn't get the full game. I've never managed to find the DOS version though so unfortunately I've still never been able to play it, though I did get the Acorn demo version running in an emulator on my old PC some years ago.

It'd be great if I could find a DOS version (or, even better, a Windows port) but if GOG could get it then it'd be a certain purchase from me.

Yeah Acron Archimedes sounds like it was something invented in an alternate reality - I never heard or it or RISC.
RISC = Reduced instruction set computers. A familly of 32 bits CPU once concurrent to the 30386. By extension, RISC also refers to RISC OS. Risc OS 2.0 was quite advanced for its time (2.0), with window tasks, cooperative multi-tasking, font anti-aliasing and a taskbar. Very lookalike to windows 3.1, except MS was still at version 2.0 at that time ...

The familly eventually proved unsuccessful as desktop computer. Advanced RISC processors are still in existence though, but are nowadays the reference processor for ... PDAs, Smartphones , etc. Risc OS still exists too, both as a commercial OS and as an opensource OS (Riscos open ).

My A3000 was upgraded to 2MB RAM and RISC OS 3.0 :)

Ah yes the Archie. Go back to around 1992 and Amiga was the dominant format and the Archie was like the Mac of it's day. More powerful than the Amiga but nowhere near as popular.
