Kabuto: Don't tell me the gameplay is radically different from the original though. What I meant by skirmish is I buy RTS games mainly to play offline vs AI (ie skirmish mode) so I care little about story mode.

The game is still $59.99 everywhere.
WTF!? I'm sure the game's price was lowered like a few weeks ago... Checked it now, back to its original price (at Amazon UK and Sendit), bah! :)

You can download whatever custom map you want and play it offline. Simply log in every 30 days and you're good to go.

TheCheese33: They've already confirmed that the next game will be less expensive than the $59.99 WoL.
Well of course. It is an expansion, not the base game. Cataclysm is going for 16 pounds! :)

At least there's a demo I just recently noticed. Downloading now. But you shouldn't have to recheck every 30 days. Shouldn't the first check be sufficient?

No idea, tbh. Some people say that the game's offline mode functionality "deactivates" itself every 30 days, and you have to log in to reactivate it.

Haven't tested it, as I don't really use the offline mode, its useless when you have an internet connection.

Btw, the offline mode... you just don't use your info to log in, but instead log in with a generic offline profile, and can only play the campaign and vs ai with it.

If you have internet connection, I don't see a reason why you would want to use it. :)

Taleroth: No, no chance that it's Nova. That's confirmed as Kerrigan. By numerous screenshots.
avatar
KavazovAngel: Maybe that's the transformed Nova. :D Hahahha, pure speculations. :p
Why would transformed Nova be referred to as Kerrigan by in-game text?

reaver894: How is SC2?

I though it was a subscription game.
Like competitive gaming? If so its the best game to watch (coming from someone who watches at least 2 hours a day and I have no intention of buying the game because of how bad I am at RTS). Not sure on playing but if you like RTS I imagine its one of the best.

Old expac prices were 29.99 USD, you think they'll go that low? This is probably bringing about the same to the table as Broodwar.

I don't really have a stake in it as I won't support their draconian DRM+removal of LAN play, but I would give them a thumbs up for acknowledging it as an expac.

No, this is the best game to watch.
I'm sorry but the demo was really underwhelming. Played skirmish mode with full tech tree available. Everything was the same save a few alternate units. The tech tree isunchanged too. I built the usual supsects following my memory from the original game. Forget the vastly improved story. I'm talking about actual gameplay here. You know, the part that counts.

And what's with the graphics scaling? Medium gives 29fps but low gives 90 but the game looks worse in areas than the original 1995 game.

Blizzard almost never puts their games on sale. Only just recently did the lower the cost of the Diablo 2 battle chest to $30. And it's a decade old.
The official page is up... woot!

http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/game/heart-of-the-swarm-preview/
The music from first StarCraft must be implemented in SC2.Great atmosphere
I wonder if the plot will have memorable zerg characters, something like a hydralisk named Fluffy Bumpkins that growls witty... uhh... one-liner growls.. after stuff. You know, like after a zealot gets pushed off a cliff, it goes "kkkkhhhhggg!". I mean, that's pretty clever and kinda funny, if you don't mind puns.

Without the overmind and the cerebrates, it's going to be interesting to see how they'll handle the zerg interactions.

lukipela: I think you need to go play SC1 again. SC2 is very very different. And the story in SC2 is crap, so dont expect that to save it :P
I've played Starcraft 1 within the last year so my memory isn't foggy. For that fact, I remember games I've played extensively quite well so it's not clouded memories, it felt the same for me.

"We do view Heart of the Swarm as an expansion set, so for the regions that have a standard box business model such as North America and Europe, we will price accordingly."

Cartman-style "Suck my balls!" to all haters who bitch about how the game will be $150.
