i loved rogue squadron, and this is $5 on steam. is it at all similar?
star wars music plus arcade space shooter with decent controls is all i ask for.

With those categories and for that price I'd say yes. I didn't like it as much as Rogue Squadron and its sure as hell no TIE Fighter but it was a fun little shooter

One word really describes this game for me: YAAWWWWWN!
It has nothing that hasn't been seen in dozens of other games of the genre and it doesn't really implement any of it in any new or exciting ways, but it doesn't do anything really poorly either. If you've got an itch to spend 5 bucks on an arcade space shooter and you can't find anything better at the price, might as well get it.

At the time of its release, I must say that I really loved it. Even if it was not as good as RS, some levels like the battle over Naboo and the Droid Control Ship were really good back then.
If you're not a Star Wars fan, as said, you will not find anything new than in a standard space shooter.
Too bad the sequel, Jedi Starfighter, never made it to PC. It was way better. A not-so-bad story, nice characters and cut-scenes, the ability to use Force powers inflight, and a very enjoyable co-op mode.
