Fenixp: As of forever, I couldn't finish any spiderweb games. I've tried demos of Avernum, I bought Avadon: The Black Fortress, and I really think they are cool, have neat mechanics, interesting story and so on. But - and here's the bad bit - I really care about graphics. Now I don't care at all about technology used, I found first Unreal stunning in 2009 because of absolutely brilliant design, and I think Inquisitor looks nice.
But there's something about graphics of Spiderweb software games I just can't get over. Maybe it's weird animations, maybe it's lack of detail... I have no clue. I just can't, for the life of me, get into them. And I would really love to as well.
I feel the same way. I'm sure they're great games, but like you said i cannot get past the craptastic graphics. I would excuse this fact if they were vintage games, sadly that's not the case here. Just my 2 cents.
