GOG.com and Interplay Level up!

GOG.com has been in talks with our good friends at Interplay, and we’re pleased to be able to say that we have good news! Not only are we adding four classic games from their catalog to GOG.com in the near future, but we’re also going to give you another chance to [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/interplay_price_change_promo_09_11_12]save big on the games we already have for the next week!

Every silver lining has a cloud, though, and the reason that we’re putting the games on sale again is because we’re raising the prices on some of the Interplay games on the 16th of November as part of our new deal with Interplay. As such, games such as Fallout, MDK, Redneck Rampage and others may never be as cheap on GOG.com as they will be this next week. If you’ve been hesitating to pull the trigger on any classic Interplay games, now’s your last chance to buy and save big!

What are the new games that we’re adding to the Interplay collection? Well, if you know GOG.com, you know what we don’t like to give away that kind of news early, but if you’re paying attention on our website--or on any of our social media channels like , [url=http://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, , [url=http://www.youtube.com/gogcom]Google+ or even just your email inbox, you’ll be sure to find out.

So pick up our last huzzay of Interplay games at $2.99 this week, and let us know in the comments below what classic Interplay games you’re hoping will show up on GOG.com early next year--or perhaps even sooner!
I hope one of the new games is Of Light and Darkness. It is one of those games I would like to experience .

Picking up Fallout 2 and Tactics.

BTW VR Soccer is on sale everyone buy it

F1ach: meh....half thinking of getting Sacrifice, but I just dont know if its worth it.
Licurg busting into this thread in 3...2....1....

Roman5: So, Interplay, I'm guessing, being the good guy it is, now gives us an "Encore" promo allowing those people to get what they want without paying extra for anything else
I don't know how you can justify this weird promo with them being the "good guys" while along with the promo we got an announcement that the regular prices will go up soon. It's about the money and nothing else.

JMich: So, could one of the games you'll be adding be Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising? Let's hope so.
I sure do hope for it, however I recently noticed that this game used to be on GOG yet it had to be taken out for whatever reason. They might have solved their differences, but I would bet my money somewhere else.

DukeNukemForever: More details please. Which games and which prices? What about the Fallout series, is there a solution found with Bethesda or will they be removed from the catalog?
avatar
Roman5: Well, Interplay's rights to sell the "Classic" fallout games end in less than 2 months, so naturally they are trying to sell as much copies of it while they still can

now would be a good time to grab a good deal on it if you don't have the game yet...
Question is if Interplay got maybe a deal with Bethesda to sell them at a higher price level. That wouid explain the new deal. But that's just pure speculation from my side, knowing that Interplay lost against Bethesda and there is a two month timeline for gog to clear the situation some more details on the topic would be interesting.

Well, at least you got a fair warning (and the possibility to buy what you want) before the prices rise...so what Roman5 said makes definitely sense.

F4LL0UT: Lol, I feel like the Interplay PWYW promo ended just yesterday and now we're getting a chance for a worse deal
It's a much better deal for those who wanted only a few selected games, and/or don't like to accumulate unwanted games.
Thinking of getting Castles/Castles 2 and Battle Chess. Is the AI in Battle Chess any good? Not too hard, not too easy?
Wow, raising the prices for games that have gotten older. Very strange. You guys really ARE crazy. I am excited to see what new interplay games will come here.

I'm naturally assuming that with the price raises more releases/updates will come to the games

I'm also guessing that something similar will happen with Croteam when it updates it's serious sam games here to the "HD" remakes

I'd say Interplay are also raising the prices to keep them the same across all digital sites. Some of the Interplay games are 9.99 on Dotemu.
Permanent price increases? That's a first for GOG :-(

Wasn't the first Heroes of Might and Magic originally $5.99?
Okay, once again, Interplay owns the classic Fallouts until DECEMBER 2013.

ZeniMax will pay Interplay $2 million as part of the settlement and each party will pay their own legal costs. However, Interplay can continue to sell the original Fallout Tactics, Fallout, and Fallout 2 PC games and merchandise through December 2013. After that time, the rights to those titles become property of Bethesda.

Finally, Interplay's rights to sell Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics will expire in December 2013, along with any other merchandising rights it had in association with those properties.

etc etc, stop spreading FUD.
