Look, I don't really want to particularly take sides or elevate this argument or anything, but his point is simply that if people keep defending GOG yet don't actually use its service, it's a mystery why they're defending it. "GOG is great, but I won't buy anything from it this time (just like every other time)".

It's like someone who lives in a particular city having the right to criticise it, and someone who has never been there, or maybe only briefly visited, really has no right to say "Oh well it seems lovely to me (though I repeatedly keep saying how I won't go there when given a chance to)".

The promo says that if you owe some of the games, it must be a gift.

Does that mean that I can generate a gift, give it to myself, use the gift code to get the games I didn't have and then get a new gift code for the games I already had or are the games I already had lost either way?

Although Fred (or you) still have to prove that this is actually the case and applies to a substantial amount of people. Because I highly doubt that.

No and no. The code stays the same, but the games you redeem disappear from it.

Almost correct. You won't get a new code, the code will still be valid for the games that haven't been redeemed.
In case you are missing 3 games, I'd suggest seeing if you can make a deal with StingingVelvet or Fifeldor, since both of them only want 2 games from this promo.

Hey, all I saw was someone making a point that was being totally misunderstood and/or evaded by another guy. I don't care who defends GOG, though I do agree that there is a defence force that defend it without ever addressing the various criticisms, without (a) pretending the criticism is a total fabrication (b) saying something about Steam.

Austrobogulator: Yes; well, I like it anyway. I was skeptical at first too. Anyway, it's good if you like challenging platformers, some of the later levels are particularly good.

I'm playing with the keyboard, and I find the controls to be pretty tight.

I would be using my 360 controller, except the game only recognizes the awful D-pad and not the analog stick for movement, which is a big no-no.

As far as this promo, there are only 4 games there which I don't already have, and I'm not sure how much I want them :(

Great promo! Six of the games are on my wishlist and I'm interested in two more of them. Seems I have to decide which ones to buy.

I was all excited about 5 games for 10 bucks but there's only one I really want. So, unfortunately, a no buy for me too.

I'm in the middle of playing Dustforce at the moment, that game is amazing and has great feeling controls. Mutant Mudds is far from that, but I still ended up enjoying it quite a lot.

I do agree, it could certainly be better; but I'd personally say it's worth checking out.

Great deal for anyone that has games on that list they want.


Sadly though most of the games I have no desire to play and the few I do I already have. I have Torchlight on steam and I have a retail copy of Trine I just bought a few weeks ago. I was so excited when I clicked on the link, I was imagining getting the the remaining LOK games or Deus EX or hell even Assassins Creed. (this store I go to has had copies of it retail for $5 yet to get it would rather have the gog copy but refuse to pay $20 when I can get it for $5 if I really wanted to) something like that but none of my wishlist is there.

I have similar isues with some games (especially older ones) so I now use Xpadder. It's easy to use and you can finally use your triggers and the second analog joystick in older games. Setting up a profile for a gamepad takes about five minutes and creating profiles for games takes about five minutes as well.
