It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I've been noticing the same poster putting links to trailers and odd things like that. The account only posts junk (laira10):

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/minor_forum_request_expandable_text_field/post13

So i was thinking, couldn't GOG ban their ip so they couldn't post any more?

I know you guys don't want GOG to become strict and start banning, but spam bots add nothing to the community.

You do know that a lot of people use Dynamic IPs, right? Which means that IP bans almost never work, since a quick disconnect/reconnect gets you another ip address.
Thus, GOG bans accounts, though they do lag behind a bit on the weekends.

I see. Well i'm just a bit surprised that that account has posted quite a few spam posts over the last few weeks it seems. I know GOG deletes these posts when they see them, but it would be nice if there was some way they could detect spam bots for instance.

Hopefully you've downrated AND marked the posts as spam so GOG.com staff has been notified of particular spammer. They do delete such accounts after sufficiant number of notification. The problem is that spambots simply create new accounts and continue as nothing has happened. Problem with automation is that it will ALWAYS also targets innocents so requires moderators as well and unless it's very good it's a lot of work for little gain so, instead, GOG uses us, the users, as free spam filters ;-p.
One simple solution would be to prevent a forum user from posting an external url in the forums until they've bought at least one game. That way people could still post questions about the site, and participate in the discussions, link to forum posts and game cards, however they couldn't link out to anything.

This would require GOG to implement a change to the forums though, and those happen rarely.

No, you rarely see England win the FIFA world cup. This is something else entirely.

Not exactly a change to the forum, but they did streamline the game update info. If they can work on that, surely they can improve how the forum works.
