Heh, while we are in this kind of topic, I was wondering if you could help me finding a game I never could remember.
It was on my Amstrad PC 1512 which was like really old (sigh, don't remember the date though). There was this game, oh it was so amazing. You had to buy stars and galactic stuff then trade it and I don't remember what :/ It's just that with my dad we used to play it for hours and it was very entertaining. It was a pure DOS game with very few graphics, so in b4 star control :)

Looked up your Amstrad PC 1512 on Wikipedia, and yeah, it's pretty old--1986. :D The only space trading games I can think of that are that old are Elite, Trade Wars and Star Trader. Elite was the first well-known graphical space-flight/trading simulator. Trade Wars and Star Trader were also space-trade simulators, but they were text-based. At least that's what I remember... I was only 5 years old at the time, lol. I was playing Space Invaders and Pango then on our Corona PC.

I am not sure was that 1512 enough to run Elite? I still own 1540 (Yes. 40MB enourmous double layer HDD!!) And also I can't recall that there was a change to buy stars on Elite? Was there? Then again I would say that Star Trader might be your game. (Hard to find any screen captures and I really think that my floppies are dead. :D )
No... sorry found some captures from here, but I must remember wrong game since I cannot remember that I've played anything like that before. :D

That wasn't Star Trader. No fight or UFOs apparent...
I remember some names, like Alpha Centauri. :D (It's not the game, but a star you could buy)
