The whole shop / DLC thing is such a shitty attitude to have when you're selling the base game for that much...

Yeah it's a bit pricey
€27.99 for 15 missions is far to expensive. Level editor is also not listed among features.
It looks like it is better to stick with free, fan made games that implement Space Hulk mechanics (e.g. Alien Assault, http://teardown.se/)

JMich: 2 things for this thread.

1) Space Hulk is now available for pre-orders on steam. EU2 price is €27.99

2) I've contacted JAFTeam over at the Bear's Pit for a little more clarifications about a possible GOG build. I was talking with Andreas, who is not one of the developers/programmers, so he can only tell me what he has been told. So, here's the info he gave me.

A) They don't plan on using any additional DRM, other than steam. To quote him B) The shop is not a micro-transaction one, it's a way to purchase the DLCs from ingame (so yes, Space Hulk will have DLCs, if you were wondering that). Again, to quote him So, it seems that Space Hulk won't be coming anytime soon, though it is possible that once their programmers finish the final touches of Space Hulk they will be able to do a different build. Andreas also said that they will be making JA:F with a GOG friendly approach from the start.
Damn, I was rather looking forward to this game.

Well if you get another chance don't forget to mention that GOG is a lot bigger than it once was and would definitely "pay for itself" in terms of being able to have a separate build of the game.
Will there be Gun Grease DLC to make jamming less frequent?

Stevedog13: Or they could just euphemistically start referring patches as DLC and then charge for them.
I'm afraid that business model alreday exists. I used to like the strategy games from Ageod, although they're obviously a "niche market" thing. But they went a bit far with "World War One", making the superpatch that eventually stabilized the game a "gold upgrade" and charging for it quite a significant amount.

hedwards: AFAIK, that's not something that GOG does, but I don't have access to any of the contracts, and GOG being DRM free, the publishers could always host their own patches.
Tweets I've seen from Lars Doucet imply that GOG doesn't charge for patching.

Crosmando: And really, are you so lazy you can't manually patch a game? I fear for the coming generations.
Some of us have "Real-Life(tm)" - and personally i have no time nor energy to spare to wonder whether game is patched or not. I leave my computer turned on for most of the times and Steam automatically patches the game even while i am working, outside, doing stuff with the kids, cooking dinner or whatever.

>>> the main point being, that when i actually haev time to sit on my fat ass and play a game - the game is up to date and ready to play.

Oh how i would rage if the game i was waiting to play told me to separately download some huge patch and thus force me to play on another day. Plus lots of games i play are online games, which i means there is really no alternative for downloading those patches.

Just my opinion ofcourse.
I'm not reading that
oh well another game to pass on then.
Well, that's incredibly disappointing. I would have pre-purchased it on GOG without a second thought despite the fact I have to be careful with my expenses right now. Steam exclusivity is not something I'm willing to support, however - I'd much rather take a "wait-and-see" approach to see how the issue unfolds (if at all) in the near future.

Well, whatever. I'll keep playing the boardgame SH instead.
