grimgroove: I liked the discussion about Planescape Torment. Apparently it's the bestselling and highest rated game on GOG, and I admit I was tempted to buy that one, until Nox came on sale last week. I'm interested into hearing why groze (I think?), an adventure-fan like myself, would not recommend it for me?
I can only speak for myself obviously, but not recommending Planescape comes from the fact that you'll be unable to fully appreciate it without properly playing other RPG games first. It twists and changes around a lot of RPG clichés, and plays on your expactations gained from other RPG games. Of course, it's also so incredibly different from other RPGs that it just can't be used as an example of the genre.

... So yeah, go play Morrowind :-P
I can only second the motion to start with something easier like Skyrim/Oblivion, Dungeon Siege, Nox, Diablo 3 or Divinity Dragon Saga. Also don't be afraid to turn the difficulty down to Easy if you are playing an older game. Playing on Easy might give you the edge you need to survive.

Finally I have to say that if you can't get into RPGs then there is no shame in that. Love what you love and play what you love. It's good to try other stuff but if you can't get into it then don't force yourself. Games are supposed to be fun so make sure that the ones you are playing are actually fun.
