I've only been on GOG for a few months, but I already recognize your name!

I'd like dragon commander or FTL.

Thanks a lot!
I would like King of Dragon Pass if it's not already taken.

Thank you very much, and I hope you have success in your other endeavors! :)

bluey83: I'm sorry to see that somewhere you once loved to be, is now a place you want to walk away from. You made me (and I'm sure countless other new posters) feel so welcome during this Insmonia sale, I instantly felt like one of the 'gang' and not the annoying new kid that keeps butting in! For that I sincerely thank you. (snip)
This. Thank you for watching out for us newbies and for being so welcoming. I don't know if I ever posted to you directly or vice versa but I do remember and appreciate your posts during the sale. I hope you will find your generosity, of time and self as well as of games, repaid in full plus interest. :)
Hey Tarnicus,

It's sad that the negative outweighs the positive. You clearly have a lot of friends. We all came to GOG as a gamer, and through this forum we can enrich our hobby. I like to read gamefaqs forum of games I'm playing even if just single player games. It's a nice comradeship, in theory, and makes me feel less alone.

I suppose the negativity here just sadly reflects the problems people are having in their own lives and want to vent, when instead if they tried they could find a wonderful place to hang out and be accepted.

For the giveaway, thanks, so many good games. As you have lots of copies of Etherlords 2 and it's a game I'm interested in, I'll throw in for that. Thank you, and hope the forum changes come soon!
Aarklash: Legacy only if it's okay!

Could you post a summary of what important changes needed to remake the forum the way you want it? Purely personal curiousity on my part. :)

Azrael360: Not in, I just wanted to say that's sad to see you leave, Tarnicus. Although I totally understand, since I was thinking the same thing. That's why I spend less and less time in these forums lately. The good old members like yourself are leaving and they're been replaced by leechers, scammers, downreppers and liers, and the trust level has declined almost to zero. That's really sad.

Anyway, if you need anything, you know you can find me in "Underdark" ;)

Take care, and many thanks for everything you did here. I hope this is a "see you later", okay?

Cheers! ^_^
I am quoting your post and bolding one part of it as that is a major factor in my decision but it is just one piece of it. I have learned not to blame others in life for what is occurring in my own, and try to be consciously aware of what I say and do and to learn from those experiences. This is more about me and who I am and deal with social situations, especially group situations and something that I have struggled to find an answer within for at this stage in life.

After a frantically busy day, and with the next few days being equally as busy, I currently do not have the time or energy to respond to this thread or the 40+ PMs I have gotten since posting this in the thorough manner I wish to. I have three posts that I will write and wish to give them the time and energy I feel they deserve after getting such an overwhelming response from this community, especially when some of those responses have come from people I have never interacted with on GOG. I am prone to verbosity, and I wish to give these three posts a thorough and well thought out writing in order to do them justice and help others perhaps have an understanding of my reasons.

The reason I didn't go into detail in my initial post is that it was not my intention to come across as a "It's your fault GOG/[insert x person/people]/aliens, so 'screw you guys, I'm going home!'". I didn't wish to further add to the drama that is currently occurring in parts of this community, as I have done so already. Since so many people are after such a reply, I feel obligated to do so and will when I can, most likely next week.

As for those who have said to me to keep my games. I have every single one of the games listed that I desire. I stumbled across the Spring Promo sale by accident, and had an amazing time in IAmSinistar's promo tracking thread. I came with the intention of purchasing one game - Aarklash, and ended up buying over 60. I purchased many of those other games in order to try to put a smile on the faces of those new to the forums, and shared many laughs, personal stories and made some wonderful new friends whose conversations have lead to a far more enriching experience than buying games to add to my already bloated game collection. My intention was to incorporate those gifts in a little project that was temporarily named the "GOG Community Gaming Project" which is partly why I purchased so much during the sale.

I am a storyteller at heart, it is one of my passions, so as I said I will try to do justice to answer the questions that many have asked me. I will also be placing a suggestion in the Forum experiences thread and would encourage others if they have had issues or can think of solutions to those issues to also post there.

I will link the posts I make in the first post of this thread for ease of navigation as I was not expecting so many replies here and via PM.

Thank you people for the reminder of that which I deem to be the "good" of our species. It is people such as yourselves who have changed me from the misanthrope I once was.

Time to rest, take care <3

Like I said in my PM to you, I wouldn't leave on the account of assholes. You're a cool member and I'm glad someone looks out for us on here.
Responding to This Post, but not quoting it so that I don't add to the insane number of notifications you already have!

" currently do not have the time or energy to respond to this thread or the 40+ PMs I have gotten since posting this"

Truly understandable! My goodness that's a lot of PM's!

"I came with the intention of purchasing one game - Aarklash, and ended up buying over 60. *claps* It was a ton of fun, wasn't it? That's a LOT of games, and how sweet of you to buy solely to spread the joy of gaming! ♥

"I am prone to verbosity" and "I am a storyteller at heart, it is one of my passions"

Ahahaha, oh I have NO idea what that's like... *whistles with an innocent look*
*cough* long-winded reviews *cough*

Before *I* become too verbose, I'll end my post here. I already PM'd you with my thoughts, so I won't rehash it here~ ;D

blakstar: Just remember...

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best

And always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life...

:-D

Artoemius: This! :)

On another note, I think we as a community can make Tarnicus reconsider his decision if we do officially appoint him the GOG Sheriff. So that no one would be able to say anything like what they said in that cursed thread.

Every community needs a sheriff. Especially when there's a lot of free stuff lying around.
I'll vote for that! Can it be "constable" though? It's more fun saying 'constable' rather than 'sheriff', but maybe 'sheriff' is more correct since this self-moderated forum is like the wild west.
Sorry to see you move away from this place. Yet I have to admit I sometimes feel like doing exactly that too...

tinyE: This is ridiculous! Pretty soon the only ones in here are going to be me and Judas and that's only because he's getting paid to be in here! :O
Maybe we should invoke the ghosts of babiyaga or babayagi, whatever names ( since he had quite a few ) the spamming indian devout scammer used , just to keep you company... :-p

I only just started looking at the forums during this Insomnia sale, when I found IAmSinistar's wonderful tracking thread and got sucked in. I've only posted a couple of times, but it was people like you Tarnicus, and several others, who really made it feel like a nice community and prompted me to post at all. So thank you for that, and for working to make the forums a better place.
I'm sorry to see you go, but I wish you the best.

djdarko: Sorry to see you're leaving, take care. Shattered Haven or Etherlords would be cool. Thanks.
Sorry, I found myself turning into one of those key-beggers over the past few days. Please keep the games, (or give them to someone who will actually play them) and stay as a member of the site.

Ugh!

Man, i enjoy your "calling people on Bullshit" posts and really appreciate the detective work you do. Are you harsh? Sure, but it is often deserved. It seems to me, that not ENOUGH people are willing to call out people these days, which (IMO) leads to people feeling far more secure about being scumbags.
I know we have had little to no interaction, but I have respect for your posts because you often include actual evidence when you are hounding someone.

I didn't read the whole thread, so i have no idea what you have left, but if there's a FTL or an Arcanum still around count me in on one.

That said, even better, count me in on nothing and maybe cut DOWN your time, but don't actually abandon the forums if possible. I can't help but feel that you provide a needed service here.
I am sorry to hear you are leaving. I understand that things on the forum have changed and I think that is a natural as the site grows more popular. I also respect your decision to put your energies in other places, there is much more to life than computer games and internet forums :)

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

I would also be interested in Age of Wonders if you still have that copy laying around.

*Edit* I would rather be in for Age of Wonders for K_1269. He has hosted a number of giveaways and I have benefited from his generosity.

Momo1991: ~sigh~

Well I know you've undergone a lot of changes since I met you here on GOG and I'm sure you'll go through even more ;-p But I did want to say this, since we never really finished the conversation - my take on it is that yes, some people are going to fool you but if you don't take the chance and be open to all that cross your path, you miss out some pretty amazing people. I guess what I'm saying is "youse pays your money, youse takes your chances". Sometimes that means losing and sometimes that means winning. For me, having lost plenty, I might be a bit inured to loss but I'm never tired of meeting another kindred soul and the joy that brings...

Anyway, I hope you check back in - here and the other places ;-) Huge hugs to the Munki-girl too!
You're awesome Momo

I wrote one of the three posts I intended to Suggestions for forum changes I am reconsidering my decision purely due to the overhwelming replies I have had via PM and in this thread. I am taking time, where able given my time being a bit more limited, to find a balanced path forward where I don't say "screw you guys, I'm going home" <3

Thank you all again for your replies, I'll get the next post written when I am able to.
