It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

first I'd like to say it's cool that the installers have a version number in them now, thanks for that!

but as the first update for Legend of Grimrock was released, will there be a note somewhere about this (I've checked and the wish for this function only has about 2300 votes, so...)? also, will the update be available or the whole installer updated?

of course I don't think that GOG should check all the developers' websites for these, but the developers should send info about the update to all the services that sell their game, so it shouldn't be a problem for GOG to for example create another tab on the main page like "updates" where you could see when and what has been updated...
I think they usually do this via sticky'd threads on the game forums. But I don't know if they do that for every update.
GOG is working on a better notification system - hopefully will be up and running soon:

This is one of the good aspects of steam. I forgot the old days of patching, incompatible version numbers etc.

Usually not an issue with the old games but I'm sure GOG can come up with a solution now that they are hosting new games that wil be updated.

exactly up until now they didn't need such system (and stickies in forums were enough... I guess; I never looked if there's an update of a game I've already downloaded)

but now I think it's more than necessary to add a new element, a list of latest updates (not only in GOG downloader, why would I run it just to see if there's an update on a specific game...?) - doesn't need to be interactive, just a note in the list that game XY has been updated, download the newest version, guys! :o)
Next month, there will be a flag on both your shelf and on your downloader to indicate something new with a given game, whether that means new goodies in the package or an updated installer.

How enigmatic of you.

I assume that means that whenever there's an update to the game or an added goodie to the pack.

Will it also tell me what is new for the given game?
See...when have GOG ever let us down.

On the shelf, yes. On the downloader? I don't think there's room for it, really.

Then it is okay. Wouldn't want to redownload the installer if the soundtrack is new. On the downloader maybe a tooltip would help.

This would seem rather important yeah, else you'll have people digging through their games to see what changed and for all you know they changed an extra into a different extra which isn't noticeable on first look :)
