I was an Android user for over a year, and then I switched over to iOS because I wanted to play so many exclusive titles that are only available on iOS, and because Android have too many "freemium" games and lower quality ports, (i.e., if a game has an iOS version and an Android version, and the iOS version is almost always better than the Android version, with more features, more contents, better implementations, etc.) I actually resisted buying Apple products, and I never had an Apple product until I got an iPad. Now I'm in the process of giving up on Android and switching over to iPhone as well. What really hurts is that I had already spent quite a bit of money on Android apps, and now they are all going to waste.

Elenarie: And you want people not to call you iSheep, iTards, MacTards or something similar?
Yes, actually. But he was being a jerk ,so I called him on it. That's all. Would you like us not to call you guys jerks?

Thanks for proving the damn point.

Clocknova: Sigh. No. No, we don't. Trust me. Jerk. Why do you even care so much? Just use the computer you like and let us use the ones we like. And now we can all buy games from GOG together. Why does choosing which computer to use have to turn into politics?

Red_Avatar: First of all, where did it turn into politics? I just stated facts after wrong information was given - Apple hardware is mostly standard PC hardware and can be bought much cheaper seperately, for example - and you CAN install Mac OS X on a PC and get the same experience for much less (although it's not exactly legal). And yes, Apple hardware is selling this much because it's become a fashionable brand and people are buying it in droves simply for the name without investigating alternatives. I know this causes some "butt-hurt" in the Apple community (and I spend enough time there since I work with Macs on a daily basis) but it's still the truth and very obvious if you look around. Heck, this is not Mac vs PC - this is simply nuancing the common disinformation I often see (especially the part about Macs having superior hardware). Maybe you should look around the forum and you'll see equal displeasure at Windows 8, at Steam, DRM, etc. People here are just very critical of what they use and read and you'll have to get used to it.
Get over yourself, dude.
Hum, back on topic then...

Unfortunately, gaming on a mac is still on pretty bad shape. The graphic drivers are of poor quality for gaming, which is understandable, since gaming wasn't that big, but unfortunately apple doesn't seem to be interested in improving them. It took them way to long to fix issues pointed out by Valve, and even now they are still lacking when compared to their windows counterparts.

And then there's Aspyr… Well, it's great that someone's porting the games, but due to the way the licensing agreements are made, steam play usually stays out of the equation. Already have that game on windows and want to play it on a mac? Here, buy it again. This will of course probably never change, unless companies start developing the ports in house.

And then, there's the way ports are made. Games ported usually lack features. Be it multiplayer (which when available, may be restricted to other mac players, like call of duty: black ops), mod support (civilization 5 still lacks official mod support, and will probably never get it), or usually more modern graphic features (e.g. the port for civ 5 was based on the direct x 9 branch).

Oh, well. I'll keep supporting the ones giving me games on multiple platforms be it through steam play, or the humble bundles. This probably won't bother many people currently on a mac, but to be honest, I don't see myself buying a mac again, so when this one goes kaput, it will be nice to be able to still enjoy my games on another platform.

Back atcha, pal.

And that is why I pretty much never buy a Mac version of a game. Usually it's better to just buy the Windows version and either boot up Windows or run it through Wine. It's not unusual that a Wine ports ends up being better than the official Mac port.

Yep. That's pretty much my strategy. If there's a mac port included, cool. Otherwise, wine is working pretty well for the games I'm playing, and there's always windows.
