sims 2 is old
very old in fact its so old EA just gave it away for a month on origin
its so old it should be on here ( but thats a topic for another day )
the sims 2 is 10 years old

and even though its a great game

there are off course issues
mostly video card issues
sims 2 was around when most videocards didnt even excist
and the current problems are
ugly square shadows under your sims
no anti aliasing ( its option greyed out )
and worse of all your locked in to 800x600

while that is playable
its not exactly optimal and while you can tinker with fame files and configration files
this is even less then optimal
so thankfully a few sims 2 modders decided to do something about it with this

easy to set up and it does what it is supposed to to and get the sims 2 up and running again

Last good Sims game. Glad to see the community fixing it, had to fix it myself a year or so back when I re-installed it.

I didn't play Sims 2 so much, although I get it through Origin freebies. Latest Sims i played was the original one; never liked the new ones but must admit Sims 2 seems legit to it own roots.

sims 3 was so so and sims 4 is just a frame work for dlc's

The Sims 3 was killed because of the store, and they did a horrible job with it... the engine it was built on was flawed from the get go, so it got worse with each expansion. Sims 4 looked good to me because they made it like the Sims 2 which was a much better system performance wise to the open world design of the Sims 3. Sadly the milking it and DLC also killed it for me.

i felt sims 3 coudl have been solid but compared to 2 it was way tioo limited and obviously created to be substantiated with expansion packs
you needed several expansion packs to get it up to sims 2 levels

at least the sims2 bas game was a game on to it self and you could just play it and a load of custom content
but even then with some sims 3 custom content it could still be half way decent

sims 4 is just a frame work with suspicious dlc shaped holes in it

sims 2 is the best of the lot

think... 800x600 wow, that pretty good! I mean it's not 1024x768 but
it's better than 640x480! :)

Thanks for the link. My 10 years old asked me recently if she could get the collection of Sims 1/ Sims 2 discs that was taking dust on a shelf. I planned to look for a way to modify Sims 2's config files, buy this will make it easier

Wish I had known about this before I had to figure out how to tinker with the configs to add my graphics card to the options :/ - ah well, it works for me now but this post will help others I am sure :)

Indeed! I used to have a monitor that only reach maximun 640x480, then Age Of Empires went out and i can't play it because need at least a 800x600 resolution hahaha. Hard time until i got a shinny new monitor!
