Hello,
I've been playing Sims 2 on and off for years but have not tried it since upgrading to Win8.
I installed it and my exansionpacks a few days ago and have had NO luck playing it. It simply won't start. It worked lie a charm on Win7 and I've read people that has had no problem running it on Win8 without really being able to provide a solution.
The game installs just fine (Origin) and is already updated to the latest version. But it won't start. The Sims 2 Launcher starts but once i click play it just closes and i get an error saying (Sims 2 has stopped working". Compatability-mode does nothing for me. I have also tried installing VMware Player but it ruins the textures ingame (all purple). I suspect that the graphics driver (which cannot be updated) is not supported by Sims 2.
Does anyone know what might be the problem? Has anyone been able to play Sims 2 on Win8 or had similar problems and fixed them?
Any idea is very welcome!
EDIT:
Bitdefender was the problem With both Sims 2 and 3. The solution was to temporarily disable "Active virus Control".
