That video was meant to be a joke, wasn't it? I hope that that's not what the general public thinks of EDM because that's some poor excuse of a "DJ"

It is not a joke. It is reality. And it is not supposed to represent what the general public thinks about EDM, but what the popular DJs actually do. Sadly, that is reality.

It doesn't matter if you spend 3 hours looking at your hardware while you're DJing, tweaking every second of whatever you're playing, trying to perfect it.

What matters these days is you telling the crowd to fucking jump (when they are supposed to be driven by the music and not your commands), jumping with them, yelling at them, smiling and running around while the music is playing.

After all, the general public doesn't come on your gig to be surprised by your awesomely-crafted performance, but to see you because they heard your name on some radio show / TV or whatever.
