Is there anyone on the planet, at this point, that would really like this game?? Hasn't every Civilization fan already either got it or gotten IV??? I mean if you never got III but skipped and went to IV, I can tell you that you probably won't want III, or if you think you do, you will quickly get frustrated by it. IV was a big improvement IMO.

But I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that perhaps stopped at II for whatever reason and never got III or IV??? I can't believe there's actually anyone out there like that, but if there is, post here and tell my why you may want it yet don't have it already, I've got one code for it and I reserve the right to not give it away at all if I don't like any of the posts, as I have two nephews that swear they aren't interested in any game that doesn't involve "action" but I still can try and convince one of them to eventually give III a try.

I'll check back here Sunday at 3:00 PM EDT. I think we change time tonight to Eastern Daylight Time but may be wrong. Either way, I'll check back at 3:00 PM Sunday, either EDT or EST.

not really into this type of games so i will pass thanks for the gift anyway :) +rep
Got it already but thank you. +1
Well, after playing extensively to Civ II (wonderful game), I discovered Alpha Centauri (a.k.a. "best game ever").
Never tried any Civ game since, and never stopped playing Alpha Centauri!
(that was something like ten years ago, I'm still playing it at least once a week)

Oh, while I'm here, if anyone knows where to find Civ II at a fair price I would be very grateful!
I can't remember where I did put the CD ten years ago…
I barely remember the game at all, but for the advisors fighting each other on ANY decision you have to make (which was pretty hilarious IMHO).
I've only played to Civ II and III.. and I liked the third too.
I would have skipped to Civ5+exp because I don't fancy much Civ4 graphic and some changes, even if it's quite famous.
Anyway, I don't want other DRM titles, so I'll just wait for Civ to come to GOG, or I'll just not buy it like other new games.
(so, I'm not in for Steam or other keys, but thanks anyway)

Some friendly advice. In the future, you should include the word "giveaway" in your topic subject if you are doing a giveaway. A lot of people here find giveaways annoying so they have a way of blocking out all threads with the word "giveaway" in the topic subject. If you don't include the word "giveaway" in the topic subject, they will be able to see your giveaway... And when people are annoyed, some start down voting...

+1 for your generous giveaway.

Sorry. FWIW though I genuinely didn't think of it as a giveaway, as it was more of stick my finger in the water and see how it feels because as I said I can't imagine anyone wanting and not having it by now and I reserve the right to not give it to anyone if it appears they just want it to add another notch to their belt. I'd rather hold it and see if I can convince one of my nephews to give it a try if that's the case but if there is someone out there that genuinely wants it and for whatever reason just never got around to it, then I'd like to give it to them.

But I'll try to remember and put giveaway in the title. To be honest, I've done other giveaways and don't think I included giveaway in the title then either, so I'll try to do remember that and do better. Having said that, please don't take it personal if I forget and do it again. My memory just doesn't work near as well as it used to.

Personally, seeing giveaways don't bother me. :) I love giveaways. I just don't want to see you get down voted or bitched at by some people.

As would seem natural, opinions are mixed as to whether 3 or 4 is best. i like 3 best. Many do. i am currently playing a Civ3 mod now.

Is it worth playing Civ III if you have played Civ IV?

i think so, but then i really really love Civ. i have both and play both. i play Civ4 less, mostly due to it's unstable nature. Different games, different mods. It is the mods which keep my playing.

Yeah, that would have to be I would think. Because as is, the corruption and waste makes the game not fun for many. It's just no fun conquering a city, and it can always only produce one hammer, even if had mines and resources on every city tile.

That was a major design flaw in III IMO, and IV completely did away with that whole corruption and waste nonsense and in a way that is still very effective at slowing growth early, while not being "unfun" later in the game.

That's why I said if Civ fans have played IV, they're not going to like it when they first run into the situation of founding or conquering cities and no matter what they can only ever produce 1 hammer per turn. It's be a sticker shock for sure IMO.

Let's be clear, I was talking about the plain game Civ III, not a modded one. I stand by my opinion that most people experienced playing IV aren't going to like and/or get very frustrated when they get their first big dose of corruption and waste.

i don't like that mechanic either. But played a great many hours of the vanilla game despite it. There is Forbidden Palace and Courthouses etc to help with it. That only works so far, then either burn new conquests, give em to allies, slave the population for rush builds of cheap units or corruption reducing buildings, and/or destroy all unnecessary buildings such that the city itself nets a small income to add to empire income. Has been awhile since i played the vanilla game, but there are ways to deal.

If not for mods, i would never have been a civfanatic. i tend to think of the game in terms of mods. If not for the Civ3 mods, i don't think i ever would have bought Civ4. At least not until it was in the bargain bin. Mods make Civ what it is, far as i am concerned.
Thanks for the offer! I am not interested, but appreciate the generosity.
I haven't played many games from the Civ series, but Civ II has always been a favourite of mine. I played it for years and years. Unfortunately, I don't get my old CD to work properly on Win7 & 8, and miss the game & scenarios very much.
