jamyskis: Well, you could make that argument with many of GOG's free games. After all, Ultima 4, Beneath a Steel and Lure of the Temptress had already long been available for free before they were released on GOG.
I don't mean the freeware part, I mean that the vanilla version of Daggerfall that Bethsoft hosts for download is ~extremely~ buggy, everyone who is playing Daggerfall is already using DaggerfallSetup ([url=http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/?title=Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup]http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/?title=Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup[/url]). So if GOG did host it, they'd be hosting an inferior version and any newbs who play it and get a nasty bug will come to GOG and have to be told to go play DaggerfallSetup instead

Well GOG would surely host a version they set up themselves, similar to what DaggerfallSetup is.

And honestly with DaggerXL so close at this point everyone should just wait for that before replaying Daggerfall anyway.

DaggerfallSetup includes the fan-made fixes, obviously, that's . GOG would probably need special permission from Beth to add them if they host it here. Either way though, it's hypothetical, Zenimax strikes me as a very conservative company and might not want to come to GOG at all.

As for DaggerXL, I'll believe it when I see it frankly, the early screen look fantastic but I fear the Lucius guy has bitten off more than he can chew with taking on Outlaws, Blood and Dark Forces at the same time.

Well, they could host DreamWeb, it's ScummVM compatible and already hosted on scumm website as freeware with permission.

Oh I'm expecting that :)

I honestly don't mind which it is. If it's a game I want, awesome. If it's a game I'm not too bothered about, awesome, as my bloody huge backlog will have one less game in it :)
