Elmofongo: OK than now what is the new things ultima added from 2 to 5?

6,7 and 8 are obviously game changers to the series judging from the screenshots.

BadDecissions: You're reaching the limit if my knowledge; as of yet, I've only played the earlier games.

Ultima 2 -- I never got into this enough that I feel I can comment on it. It takes place on Earth, for some reason, and you have a time-travel mechanic.

Ultima 3--there is now a party system

Ultima 4--The real game-changer. The Avatar makes his first appearance, there's finally a conversation system, and the world of Britannia is introduced. This is the natural place to start, if you're looking to get into the series (I only played the first three because I'm kind of neurotic about playing series in order).

Beyond that, mrcrispy83's link looks pretty thorough.
All right thanks for the answers I was thinking of starting a Ultima 5 since it has better graphics.

There's a good shot it will make its way to GOG, so I would wait, personally, but I've been mad at Steam ever since they temporarily shut off my access to all my games.

Yeah i myself would really like to get it from gog if it pops up also why did they temporarily cut off your games?
Waiting for sale is a really good idea. Especially when its like a month till super discounts.
With Thanksgiving and Christmas sales coming soon I wouldn't buy ANYTHING for full price right now.

GaminggUy45: Jurassic Park I've been wanting to get the game for awhile now and yes i know its not that great but i like bad games so anyway should i get it from steam or wait for it on gog?
Wait for the sales around Christmas. These sales are only around 30 days away from now.

They changed their subscriber agreement in the summer and amended our rights to file class action lawsuits. I didn't like it, clicked disagree, and asked to opt out via customer service. They said no, I couldn't play any of my games until I agreed, but it took about two months of going back and forth with customer service to find out that there really was nothing to do other than bend to their will or sacrifice my collection of 600+ Steam titles. In fact, you tacitly agree to the subscriber agreement if you don't delete your account (and all games) within a certain time frame. I have a ridiculous amount of Steam games from various sales, but I haven't bought anything from them since unless it was part of an indie bundle. Even then, I usually give away the Steam codes to someone else if I can get the Desura or DRM-free version. They lost a valuable customer that day.
