Ah, good to see that there are more people that like racing games! Where is FlatOut2? 1nsane? Dirt? Monster Truck Ralley? Colin McRae? ...

GOG already has some of the best older platformers and adventure games in their catalogue. Granted, apart from "The Incredible Machine" there are no puzzle games, but I can't think of many old classics in that genre that I would still pay $5.99 dollar for. Like others said, half of the games you listed (especially the casual puzzle ones) are newer indie games, that's why they're not on good OLD games yet.

In the end, GOG releases what the majority asks for and what publisher provide them with, regardless of the genre.

But don't count on any racing game with licensed cars like Colin McRae. But with unlicensed, there shouldn't be much problems.

Puzzle and casual games are good and all that, but many of them are already available DRM free from the developers and in indie bundles(or in the case of HOGs, on HOG sites.).

Plus what's wrong with a bit of simulated vilence now and again? Games are(imho) meant to allow us to do things we want to do/try but can't for various reasons(against the law or our own moral compass, disabled and aren't so mobile if at all, etc)....of course this includes fantasy adventures and the like as well, but it also includes games which allow us to indulge our...*ahem*...."darker" natures from time to time. :)

Plus as others said, GOG has many fine non-fps/non-rpg titles here with less emphasis on violence AND will add more in the future......plus with ANY new game added to GOG the likelihood we will see other games we DO want even more increases.

OP you could try some adventure games like Syberia or Syberia 2?

Colin McRae Rally 2005 was here. It was removed due to the publisher's license with teams or car manufacturers having ended.

TBH, how many FPS games are there that genuinely deserve to be considered GOGs? It's a serious question. Prior to Doom there were only a handful of games and then there was the period where most of them were Doom clones and not good Doom clones.

It's not really until '96 where there's really a good selection of games worth having here. Several of them are DRM free elsewhere a few are available here.

And most of those games are still available, many of which without DRM at all.

Then you hit the post Halo era and quite frankly things took a real wrong turn and even iD FPS games lost their luster. All in all, it isn't just GOG, there is a generally bad SNR in that genre.

Compared to what? MOO3? Empire Earth 3? Any one of GOG's other crappy second sequels? There never really was a point in GOG's history where it was like the Criterion Collection of games. Regardless, I can think of plenty of FPS that qualify as great, never mind good.

I guess there's no chance of seeing Test Drive 5 then (since it has so many classic cars)? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a playstation version off ebay and emulate it?

Doom, Quake, Hexen, NOLF, Project IGI (1) , Soldier of Fortune for a start... I would find a dozen more If I wanted to ;p

I would believe that's a good idea, yes. GOG has stated that they want to avoid these "timed license" deals in the future. Sadly, since these licensing issues were between the publisher and brand owner, GOG had little say and couldn't really do much other than comply and remove the games from sale.
