I'm sure a lot of you have far more interesting stories to tell, but regardless, I'll start:
(I have three glasses of cheap Sauvignon Blanc in me so I hope I don't regret sharing this later :P)
Back in highschool I was part of a 4 member group that decided to create a space invaders type of game for a Turbo Pascal project. The teacher never taught us how to use graphics in Turbo Pascal, so we mostly relied on the less than helpful help file. Even though we had about 2 months to complete the project, we still hadn't finished the day before the due date(because we did zip the first 5 weeks), which fell on a Monday. At around 19:00 my mother came into my room, where we were working, and said "Look, come hell or high water, you have to be done by 21:00 since tomorrow is a school day".
21:00 came and went so I went to my mother's room to check on her, only to find that she had fallen asleep on her bed. I took away her cellphone, unplugged the bedside phone, turned off her light, closed the door and me and my buddy continued coding (my other 2 friends were long gone).
Shortly after midnight we were 'done' (the last boss was basically an evil smiley face with a gun protruding from its side, and the last player ship looked like it had a halfassed paint job) My friend left, and I went back into the house. I immediately realized that I had a problem: I had to lock up, and switch on the house alarm. However, from past experiences I knew that whenever I switched on the alarm my mother wakes up, switches on her bed lamp and checks what time it is on a clock in her room. The next morning I would then get in trouble if I was up too late. No problem I thought : I turned back the clock about 1.5 hours and unplugged her bed lamp.
Very late the next morning my mom wakes me by bursting into my room (visibly panicked - she was a teacher herself and had to get to school) : "Quickly get up! I've overslept! My bedside lamp has a broken bulb and the clock in my room has stopped !!" I can only imagine that she got up early but saw on the clock that she still had plenty of time till she had to get up. At some point the amount of daylight outside must have caused her to double check on her cellphone which I placed far from her bed earlier that morning...
We got 19/20 which kinda pissed me off, since several people got 19/20 for little programs. One girl got 19/20 for a Hangman program with Ascii graphics.
