GastonArg: Thief was not the only game that have been butchered, you got Resident evil, hitman, duke nukem etc etc etc (I know resident is not a pc game but still.. )this is what games are heading to, you need to accept it,
Well, fortunately we have indie developers, mod makers and Kickstarter ;]

Who cares if they butcher the Thief series, when fans make a thedarkmod.com.

Who cares if EA keeps on releasing crappy RPGs, when we have Kickstarter projects like Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2 or Torment: Tides of Numenera ;]

There is nothing to worry about were the games are heading to, for if someone doesnt like the mainstream approach, there are other alternatives ;]

I actually think that thanks to all kind of indie development, things are starting to look really well. These are usually games made by true fans, for true fans. Its made by people who care, and are genuinely interested in making something really good.

Its even more impressive when such an ambitious project is distributed for free, with fans making new missions / campaigns for free. [lets take The Dark Mod or Black Mesa for example]

011284mm: Not arguing that the DLC should not have been included, but with Hitman 5 all of the DLC was cosmetic rubbish that you could only use in the online challenge mode anyway.
None of it was worth buying.
Indeed.

Honestly I find it hard to get worked up about launch time DLC when 99% of it is pointless crap I would rather avoid having installed anyway. There are exceptions of course like Mass Effect 3's 'From Ashes' DLC, but for the most part all this stuff people yell about, and all these "DLC Collections" I see my Steam friends buying, are dumb costume packs and cheat weapons. No thanks.

Also Thief sucks anyway, apparently.

Having only seen a single trailer I thought it might stand quite well, but then I began looking at reviews and have decided that it might be a real wait-and-see what gets put out to fix it. Everyone says that there is a great game in there, but depending on what your expectations are you might be somewhere between "it's okay" to "meh".
I quite liked the review from The Escapist

It sounds like Invisible War to me, a decent game if you like the genre but a pale imitation of what came before in the series.

There aren't enough of these kinds of games for me to ignore it, I will buy it and play it eventually, but I'm not in a big hurry (and haven't been in a video game mood lately anyway).
TB liked it quite a bit, surprisingly enough. Then again, he's always been more of a mechanics/features/options fiends, and apparently almost EVERYTHING in the new Thief game is completely customizable.

I'm tempted, but I'll likely wait until a sale, or on the off chance it might find its way here.

tarangwydion: Personally I think regardless of others' opinions about the new Thief game, it will be great if the game can really come DRM-Free to GOG.
This. And with all DLCs included. I am willing to pay a little more and get this game, 1) COMPLETE, and 2) DRM-FREE; in THAT order.

yeah, you probably have to wait a bit then. My guess several DLC's will be coming out during the year, many of them are not completed or even started the work on yet. There will not be a complete edition before all DLC's are complete.

Reminds of Borderlands 2, it is still getting the odd DLC's now and then, or Bioshock 2 where "Burial at sea part 2" is not complete yet.
Update:

Of course, i have been terribly hasty. I forgot to read the reviews... I changed my mind after reading This...

I am very happy with the first three titles i already purchased here. I could never imagine how worse Thi4f would be, than what i initially imagined! Sorry for the inconsistencies.
