I agree. It got a laugh out of me with 'It's more a hyperbole than a simile!', because it sounds like something TET would say even in a moment of crisis :D

I must say, despite not being happy about this whoe thing, GOG staff having a sense of humor and coming out with a video like that is pretty nice (for me). It's a real pity that these last changes are creating a rift between us users and staff, because having them joking around in the forums was a really good thing. But I guess that's the price of growth.

I've never seen any Downfall parodies before, in fact I've never even heard of them, Selderij's was the first one I've ever come across and I thought it was both very clever and very funny. GOG's on the other hand was just a pale imitation by comparison. For me, that's why it didn't really work.

I envy you, I can only play the videos muted. My brain just ignores the subtitles when it understands the spoken lines. Must be damages from years of watching movies with subtitles.

I find both videos awesome and I'm glad gog answered in style. For me it means that they do care about the community, and not all is lost. As I said, I can't imagine Gabe doing something like this.

As I responded to the original post: As for GOG's reply - not really funny, too much emphasis on the free compensation games, a bit of demystification of their DRM-free "mission" and, generally, more of the same talk to convince the crowds how good this all is. I had not realised that the actual problem was that the Letter was too long and hard to understand ;-P

This video was hillarious XD I liked GOG's video as well, but it really felt like a "I make a video because it's shorter, and easier to understand" type of thing. But simply the fact that they made a similar video made me very happy :3

Btw, the exact same thing happened at my university a few years ago:
A hard exam was upcoming, and one of my classmates created a Downfall video about "sadistic teachers and crazy exams". And he shared it on facebook, where the teachers watched it as well... and not only that they were not angry, but they have also created their own Downfall video about us, "stupid students".
We have awesome teachers :D And nobody failed the exam, the guy even got A+. To quote the teacher: "A for the exam, "plus" for the Hitler-video :)"

Not quite as tightly-synched as Selderij's, but I absolutely loved the grammar Nazi bit. That and "whoever the heck you are." A good attempt.
