This is going to be a long post I just know it. Anyway, read it and answer anything you can and ask for more info if needed.

My facts:
I have not owned a smartphone ever before(one with a touch screen at least). It wasn't needed in my life but now the need has risen. Basically it's no matter what phone I get and it'll be a huge leap forward.

What I need is a durable, semi-rugged smartphone with some kind of dust/water protection and after couple weeks of consideration I found the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 to seemingly fulfill my needs. I have no actual need for any really (currently)high-end phone so most phones above 300€ are not included in my calculations.

I have also considered different OS's and found the Android to be the most suitable for me. I'm ready to root my phone and customize it in any way possible.

After reading countless reviews on phones, Xcover 2 and others, and consulting friends on different aspects about smartphones, I realized I have one group of people I've not yet pestered with my questions. That is you!

My questions:
- Has anybody used this phone, what was it like in everyday use?

- Did it really endure in rough use? And I'm not talking about something insane or accidental like putting it in a washing machine/microwave oven or banging it against a rock. But more like hiking, nature traveling, getting wet in a rain during a long bike trip or while parkouring etc.

- Opinions about physical aspects: screen, overall phone size, weight etc.?

- Technical stuff: was the 1GB RAM and 1GHZ enough for your everyday use? How about the built in memory, 4GB(practically ~1GB without customization)?

- Have you rooted this phone, how did it go?

- Has anybody found any custom ROMs for this specific smartphone?

Edit: The price went down about 20€ just a while ago. Maybe a new model coming up? Not making my choice any easier...

I don't know that particular phone, however I had dumbphones all my life until last year when I switched to a Note 2.
It depends on what are you using the phone for. I can't speak for the Xcover, but from looking at my Note 2 I can share the following:
The 4GB storage is not much, but a microSD will fix that. Do note that not all applications can be installed on the microSD so that storage will be eaten up pretty quickly.
The CPU and 1GB RAM should be enough if you don't plan on gaming resource-heavy games. I have 2GB of RAM, but usage seldom goes above the 1GB mark. The OS itself won't be too snappy with that CPU, but it should suffice.

Nobody else has any experiences? I know this particular phone is not sold very widely but still you must know something. Please, share your knowledge! =)
