just be carefull - some people get hooked on optimising a character and spend ages working out the maths towards the ultimate character - as long as its fun thats fine, but don't get hooking into thinking that you have to do it otherwise it turns into a chore and is then not fun.

That sounds like an MMORPG problem rather than something you would find in a single-player game. That whole optimize your character or die attitude is what killed WoW and any other MMO for me.

It's nothing like WoW. You don't have to optimize, it's just that I come from this certain background so it's in my blood... I guess you could say. Plus I am a power freak in games. I always lean towards extreme offense is the best defense kind of play. People argue yes and no, but that's never going to change what works best for me. I've fought my way through life that way from physical activities to work and games. It never fails me, and I have no regrets.
But that was sort of off topic from what you said. So no, this isn't like a mmo. In some ways this game has more depth in the characters development than something like WoW. For me playing this game is research into a bigger project I'm working on. I just wanted to maximize for a specific reason, and I also get into that but it can take away from the fun like Overread said. If you like hack and slash but with some actual exploration and freedom to go wherever kind of play, you might like this game.

I didn't mean to quote, check it again, for some reason it put the quotes around it. I was just saying it's not like WoW basically. WoW is easy mode, other than the grouping and raiding and grinding crafting skills which all bored me way back in EQ so I wouldn't want to keep doing it nearly a decade later heh

I haven't had much opportunity to get into Sacred 2 with the expac for WoW keeping me busy.
However when I've played I've had a good time, but yeah some of the quests are kind of shallow.
