3DS users are getting remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. YEAH!
November 2014 according to the trailer.

I actually played Ruby. I was way too old to do so at the time, and I have NO interest in Pokemon but my logic was "Hell, if this is a deep RPG that lets me capture and train a team of units while advancing their stats and abilities I'm in." Low and behold, it was exactly that and a very pleasant surprise. While the subject matter is certainly "kiddy" the game is very deep and really hits most marks in what I look for in a traditional JRPG. It reminded me of a few of my old favorites, the "Final Fantasy Legends" series on Game Boy (which weren't FF games - I think they were their own series but were rebranded as FF for the US) - but Pokemon let me build a HUGE stable of units instead of just a small party!

Oh.... How did I miss this?
Ruby was my second favorite after Gold. I did not think much of X, but this IS what I bought a 3DS for!
