It looks awesome, but a bit steep on the price. I still use XP, but didn't like VX's map system (never could figure out how to work it).

I especially like the new character generator. You pick the features and it makes your sprites for you. I'm not artist, so it would be fun to use that aspect.

I like the name, it is very anime-like.

But, they should make roguelike maker. I'd definitely buy it.
I see no sample game yet. The last time they gave a sample game for RPG Maker XP, Knight Blade - Howling of Cerberus. I didn't get far with it, but it was nice IIRC. Anybody plays it?

Bodkin: ...they should make roguelike maker...
Seriously was hasn't anyone done this. They would make a killing.
Have they sorted out the awful "only one chipset for the entire game" system of the recent versions?

I used to mess around in the (then) ubiquitous pirated-translated version of RPG Maker 2000 so I was used to being able to have a separate chipset for each map. Being locked into one for the entire game was a big shock.

chipset?
I think he means tileset.

Sogi-Ya: chipset?
It's what tilesets were called in RM2K jargon, don't ask me why.

Well, I meant what I said... but yes it means the same thing as tileset.

ahhh,k!

you say "chipset" and I think that you are saying it will only work with one type of CPU.

I do understand to logic (or kinda poor translation) of calling the "tiles" "chips" since a tile could be considered a "chip" in the literal description sense.
Yeah, I think it was something to do with the fact that it was a Japanese program, translated to English by a Russian guy who went by a Spanish name (Don Miguel if I remember correctly).

EDIT: Found his site! <3 Don't worry, he no longer hosts the pirated version.

They have indeed. RPG Maker XP was a lot like 2000 in the tileset count. For VX Ace, they upped the tileset count from VX (2) and XP and 2000 and 2003 (3) to a whopping 999. Now you can stack images to your heart's content.

VX Ace sample games are coming. :)

Knight Blade was quite interesting - I recommend trying it further! The game is fairly short, around 3 or 4 hours to finish but decent quality.
