retro_gamer: "GTA" was really something back in the day. I remember playing this on PlayStation years ago. So much fun. ^_^

The funny thing is that some gamers of the younger generaton thinks that the series began with "GTA 3". :))) They don't really care why there is a "3" at the end of the title. :)))
Ditto Fallout.

Yeah, I didn't think of that. I bet that some of them, when they discover that there are pre-Fallout 3 Fallouts say like...yuck, what is this? :)))

The recent HD collection and MGS Subsistence at least made more people aware of Metal Gear 1 and 2. Before that most didn't even consider earlier games might exist with no number in Metal Gear Solid.

No, I mean Fallout as I do not consider them the same series, "spiritual sequel" is not the same as "sequel" (else I'd be forced to consider Dragon Age and Baldur's Gate the same series, and that's just wrong). Wasteland will most likely get to that position as well when the sequel gets released and word gets out to more previously ignorant people. To be honest, I didn't know about either Wasteland or Portal before the kickstarter projects went up, but I'm still interested enough to do some research on them.

i read the point as "ignorance of ancestry" and wasteland still fits it. there are Fallout fans that are probably ignorant of the history of the series. it fits, regardless of you definition.

if youre gonna take that standpoint... then the insinuation of "people not realizing 2 comes before 3," becomes just insulting. who is dumb enough to think a part three, of anything, is the first... well, save for Star Wars...

i started Ultima with part 6, but i wasnt so ignorant to think it was the first.

i know the point was to be cute, but now its become an insult?

There was no Windows NT 1 or 2, it started with 3.1 to mimic the version of the DOS-based Windows at the time.

And the post explicitly stated people not caring for the fact that there was a "3" in the title.
