well as the title says, i was pretty shocked and sad to read this Article today

so RIP HR Giger you were truly an inspiration and changed the face of sci-fi as we know it
I read it in the news and I am very sad. I really enjoyed his design ideas and I love his alien design. His pictures and books were quite nice. Sometimes his art was provoking to think around the corner (that's my opinion)...

maybe even more than that, the alien movies had a great impact on not only the people that have seen them but also the genre in itself but atleast his work wont ever be lost and forgotten

Definitely, he'll live forever through his artwork.
Too bad GOG doesn't sell Dark Seed.
Sad news. I was just having a conversation with some friends a couple days about how good his work was.
We need Dark Seed here. :/
Sad news indeed.

I wish I could honour him by buying Dark Seed games..:-(

Amen to that!
The article says he died from a fall which sounds like an accident but his health was already pretty bad lately. I wanted to meet Giger 3 years ago at an exhibit here in Switzerland but he didn't show up due to being in bad shape (so I was told by the organizer of the show). Went there by foot and (literally) climbed over a mountain to get from my home to where the exhibit was. I could have taken the train of course but it was a nice hike and since Giger is pretty epic one might as well take an epic hike to get to see his works which are quite fascinating to look at up close.

True, true. I think it never occurred to me how much nearly every single sci-fi and horror film/game is at least to some degree influenced by his work (after the original Alien film, that is).
Damn :(
A great artist has passed, a sad thing indeed.
A great one passed away - thank you for all your work HR. It will continue to inspire us all.
Ugh.
