The review and screenshots seem to be for PS3 but at the end they said one person was playing the PS3 and other PC version.
Substandard and insulting - that's the conclusion of the review. Combat system comparable to ME but not as fun.
Hmmmm. Was looking at this game myself but i think ill give it a pass.

Also note at the end they say the PC version has some performance issues i.e. lag and framerate drops.
2 out of 5? What a shame.

Oh well, I think I'm still gonna pick it up once it gets a $5-10 sale price tag, because of the setting. If the other reviews are equally harsh, that shouldn't take too long.

I'm mostly bummed about the length: if it's indeed only 10-12 hours long, even if you play the side missions, that's the biggest issue for me personally. I would've expected at least double length. Although, if the game is truly as repetitive as the reviewer says it is, then...I guess it's a good thing? :P
Its only a 3rd person shooter though. They do describe it as generic but listening to the review i got the impression not only about this but reviews in general for some reason reviewers always expect games to have some innovation or crap like that for it to be a good game. Sure it might be repetetive & not living up to the Xcom name, but why don't they review it as a standalone game instead of expecting too much?.

Yep. But then some AAA games have some sort of performance issues in general. They didnt say much else about the PC game at all.Ill wait to see what TB has to say about the game....

A game doesn't necessarily have to have an innovation, but it needs something to stand out and a generic 3rd person shooter is not a good place to be for anyone.

To answer the second bit - because it's called Xcom. If you tag a franchise like X-Com onto your game and expect you can not live up to the expectations but enjoy the hype and marketing power the franchise name gives you - well, it was your own damn fault.
ah well, hopefully if this fails miserably critically and commercially it means they'll never make another xcom that ain't a proper turnbased tactics game
Almost pre-ordered this. Seems like I dodged a bullet if we go by this. Looking forward to some other reviews, preferably some gamer's reviews.

I thought because XCOM - Enemy Unknown was good then this might also be good. Considering it's a different genre by a different developer that was a stupid assumption on my part.
