Startopia was an awesome sim-ish real-time strategy game set on a space station, which is widely unknown for some reason - even by fans of the genre. And I could never understand why: It's obvious creators have red certain hitchhiker's guide, it has lots of charm and HUMOR! ... Oh and recreational deck.
If this has caught your attention, go read retrospective on Eurogamer , which was the reason I created this topic after all, and go vote for it on wishlist.

I actually have that lying around somewhere. I even think it's still in its plastic wrapping. I found it in a bargain bin, but as far as I remember, I never got around to playing it.
EDIT: On reading that glowing review, I think I need to locate that game and see if it'll run on Vista64. Anything that gets compared to Dungeon Keeper deserves to be played.

Does it work on Windows 7? Not much point in me investigating further if it doesn't.

Is that lot worse? What about forcing graphics options on through Nvidia/ATI control panel? That's what I do with a lot of games that don't natively have AA, like Borderlands and UFO Aftermath. But I don't know if that would work if you have to rely on it entirely for hardware mode.

How should it be worse? The game looks and plays exactly as it did when I have first played it on my old rig, and new computers can easily handle the software rendering for it. As for driver settings, I really don't know and am lazy to try right now

This game desperately needs to be up on GoG. It was a pinnacle in the management sim arena with character in spades. Everyone who reads this topic, go find it and upvote it!

Yes, I'd *LOVE* to see Startopia on GOG. I still have my retail version, but more people should get the opportunity to play such a great game.

Loved the game, never completed it though, still have the CD.
Everytime I read up some retrospective, I feel the urge to bring out the game, reinstall and replay. Just 2 days ago I reinstalled Medieval 2 Total War and started playing coz of the Total War threads that started appearing after Shogun 2 was announced.

Works great on hardware rendering on a 7600GT on Win7x64 without any compatibility settings.;)
