Apparently Replay is keen to bring back all the Sierra veterans for a final hurrah.

New Space Quest would be nice.
I'm starting to lose track of how many games Sierra actually was involved with. Given how much attention they've wound up with recently I can only wonder what the next oldie company to pick up attention is going to be, even if it happens to be a dead one.

Sierra was the King and Queen of Adventures. Many Sierra games have (rightfully) a cult following, so they are a special case. Top of my head, I can't think of any other defunct company with so many good adventures.

The only Sierra game that comes to mind that I played growing up was Contraptions. Most of my other PC games were by blizzard, and a couple from Bullfrog.
Its funny how many old classics are coming back from retirement in one way or an another.

Says a lot about the current state of gaming ;-P

Disclaimer:

They, along with Lucasarts, were pretty heavily into the point-n-click adventure games. Space Quest, King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest, Quest for Glory (formerly Hero's Quest, but there's a board game with that same name), Conquest of the Longbow, Conquest of Camelot, Codename: ICEMAN, Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist, and some others that I'm probably forgetting.

They were pretty big in the 80's/early to mid 90's.
Conquest of Camelot and Conquest of the Longbow are great games. I hope they'd find their way to GOG.

People are either out of ideas or would rather work with an existing franchise, no matter how old

Why do you think there was so few new IP's this gen?
But many of these IP's are so old, that some people though them obsolete. Think about Wasteland for an example. Only one game in the 80's, the Fallout series was in the spirit of, but not direct series and many didn't even know of the influence.

And one difference is, that now its the original creators that are coming back, not new developers.
