Whoever the user Zeus is on that forum is an absolute GOD.
Which all the more validates his choice of user name.
I think the sharp reaction is that somehow, they think it is their 'right' to get free stuff.

lowyhong: Codex cool points don't apply here.

Moar like "being reasonable", AMIRITE?
Wow. That just wasted half my day. Thanks guys.
Also, there actually was some sense in that thread. And nonsense. A riveting mixture, so to say. It's too bad discussions on the internet are so messy. It's impossible to actually force a conclusion, since arguments are so easily ignored.
I would be interested in the result of a properly governed debate, since I do sense that both sides have something true to say. It's buried under profanity, false information and thickheadedness, but it's there. Probably.
...
Maybe..
But hey, it'll never happen.
Hmm, if I don't get a job I could always do a doctorate in communications and make that experiment the subject of my thesis

I'm reminded of some sort of quote about staring into an abyss or something like that. ;)

ahh you worry too much, what's it going to do? Stare back at me?
Besides, I'm thinking a live debate so I could thwack people when they say something so stupid it threatens to give me an aneurysm
Anyone recognise the quote "If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in ciollege"?

I was thinking a big red glowing button that would allow you to deal out electric shocks to people when they say something retarded. It would make that delightful BZZZZT sound as well.
<sighs dreamily>

yes, Black.
Yeah, that whole piece he does there explains the reason it'd have to be a live debate, too risky otherwise
@Gragt: I don't know if you're hurt over the fact that this thread exists - whose main motive was to question the existence of affiliation between GOG and an external website that on the surface seemed to have great disdain for GOG, not so much with the (initial) intention of a flame war - or if you're forgetting this really isn't RPGCodex after all.
In any case, I'd gladly appreciate it if you not attempt to hijack my threads in future. Thanks.

bwahaha, lowyhong, if you worry about what Gragt wrote in your other thread, well, it's because you don't know him. In fact, i find him rather calm and good-tempered, compared to the other forum he and I posted it.
Believe me : if you start to get angry each time Gragt says something you don't like, you're gonna have looooong days of angryness. Live with it or ignore him.
Point taken, though I'm not angry, so much as being annoyed at someone trying to be funny in a thread where I'd like to return some goodwill to the GOG community.

Hurt? Nope, I just question the usefulness of a thread with a "us vs them" mentality, although I know it is a cheap and relatively risk-free way to earn cool points. You simply linked to a thread where a few people were bitching about GOG (ignoring the positive replies), and what did it give? The same kind of mindless stupid bitching and the same act of self-fellation, except it was aimed at the Codex this time. The irony, it's over 9000!
The fun part is that when I linked to this thread on the KKKodex, those who came here to post where the most reasonable of the bunch and probably those who are not averse to use a service like GOG. What's too bad is that despite the mindless bitching on both sides, there were a few issues worth discussing that were raised and promptly ignored, but serious talk is for losers I guess.

Oh my, don't tell me you're butthurt over this. It's a joke, and a small one at that, nothing designed to highjack a thread. But I guess it is politically incorrect enough that it will irk some people, including yourself. It's probably people like you who sent Oscar Wilde to jail, for different reasons but following the same logic.

Now this is actually funny. The part about coming into a thread and posting nonsense passing off as a joke? Not so much. I like how you talk about being funny on teh intarwebz, but coming off as being circumstantially unfunny to someone else, you then start making jabs at how someone lacks the necessary liberalism to appreciate it. Take a look around this forum, even if you refuse to believe it, nobody generally really takes this sort of humor in bad taste.
Nevertheless, I do appreciate people like Whiskeywolf and Elwro coming on to make civil discussions, amidst all the bitching about GOG on the Codex. I didn't create this thread with the intention of an "us vs them" or superiority complex debate, but to question said affiliation if Codex hates GOG so much - which, despite some positive replies, is quite obvious on that thread. Read: "why is GOG affiliated".
Anyway you're right I may have been reading too much into your "small joke". But you probably already have this conclusion anyway.

Codexia is a place of extremes. A lot of the posters that you find offensive and stupid are really offensive and stupid while the ones worth paying attention to are quite knowledgeable in good old game arcania. Sometimes they are both depending on the time of day. RPG developers post there semi-regularly also...mostly Obsidian or former Obsidian so it's good to lurk around. There really aren't that many communities dedicated to those types of games so you take what you can get.
