Mother Earth needs YOU, pilot.

Strike Suit Zero, a visually stunning revival of space combat sim genre, with many fresh gameplay ideas, featuring dynamic action, sleek spacecraft design, and mindblowing music, is now available on GOG.com, 20% off. That's only $15.99, this week only!

The story is simple: evil forces armed with an alien relic attack the Earth and destroy almost entire U.N.E. fleet. You, a disgraced pilot named Adams, are the only force standing between the Colonials and annihilation of our homeworld. Sure it's a story you've heard before, but none of those stories offered you a chance to unleash the power of the Strike Suit. You, destroying entire fleets almost single-handedly--it's that kind of story.

Strike Suit Zero balances between simulation and arcade shooter and manages to create a fantastic combat experience. In the first few levels you pilot a "normal" starfighter--a one you'd expect from a space combat sim. However, it's the Strike Suit that allows the game to fully shine, offering a sense of empowerment like no other space sim and allowing you to eradicate your opponents with a flurry of deadly missiles and triumph over enemy forces that outnumber you 10 to 1. It is fairly difficult but not unfair, as mouse + keyboard controls work intuitively, until you grab a recommended joystick, of course :) Both space-sim fans and more "casual" gamers will enjoy the hell out of setting the space skies on fire.

If you're worried about not getting DLCs with the GOG.com version, then stop. All users who purchase the game or a gift code within the first month will get the DLC-pack for free. Yes. More death-dealing space mechs are coming!

Missing that unpaired rush of adrenaline one can only get from dogfighting enemy fighters in the depths of space? Don't hesitate to join the U.N.E. Fleet, get Strike Suit Zero today, for only $15.99! The discount will last until Thursday, January 31, 1:29PM GMT.

F4LL0UT: Dang, this game looks so great. I'm actually considering to buy it despite the hefty price (well, hefty compared to the usual price I'm willing to pay for a digital release). Have to read some reviews ASAP.

Edit:
Holy shit: Eurogamer Review
Haven't read the review yet but 3/10 doesn't sound good. :x
Would read some other reviews too and not base such worries purely on that. The reviewer in question made some fair points but one of the developers left a comment to address his complaints, which was good of them.

"Hullo! Jamin from BRG here, just to address a couple of the points.

Firstly, the game is intentionally tough; we're appealing to space combat fans and they're a notoriously hardy bunch.

It's true that the game comes into it's own once your comfortable with the suit and understand it's strengths and weaknesses in any given situation. Completing latter levels without changing into Strike mode is TOUGH -- you really need to utilise the firepower of the suit.

Game crashes have been eradicated from the game in the days since review code went out, and any graphical slow down has also been sorted (this can now be improved much better in the graphical settings).

Mid-level saves will be included in our first patch post launch, and is something we've taken on board since reviews went out.

If anybody has direct questions or comments -- hit me up. I'm all ears and we'll be constantly updating the game post launch.

Thanks."

Not that his complaints don't seem valid. He obviously had a hard time playing so it's perfectly okay that he should address the issues that bugged him but the overall score itself seemed a tad too harsh (although I tend to avoid such reviews anyway personally).

ERISS: So, is Freespace2 still the best?
avatar
milan14: They never said it was Freespace style game. It is space shooter and long overdue if you ask me, totally getting this one...
avatar
Roman5: Looks very nice, looking forward to hearing what people will say about this one
avatar
milan14: Just do not listen to that idiot on Eurogamer - he gave this 3/10 because he "died several times on just one mission". Can you believe that? What score was Dark Souls suppose to get then?
Wow, that's great to hear, so it actually has difficulty and some depth?

My interest in this game is slowly rising...

STUFF
Always a pleasure seeing developers post on GOG forums

Let's say I am completely unfamiliar with this game, what would be the main selling keypoints for this game and what is so awesome about it? :)

Looks pretty :) Definitely tempted.

Can you tell us more about this DLC situation? I was under the impression that one of GOG's policies was to include all available DLC in a game. What does this DLC pack include? What happens to people who buy later - will it be available as an expansion like Alan Wake? Will it include future DLC as it gets added?

Bloodygoodgames: But....Torchlight is THE best game I've ever bought on GOG and, I'd have to say, one of the Top 3 games I've ever played.
Just out of curiosity: have you actually played other CRPGs before that? True, Torchlight is among the best CRPGs but it did not make SUCH a great impression on me because while it's extremely well done and beautifully executed it felt like "just another CRPG" to me.

Yeah, I don't trust Eurogamer anyway (even less than most other major review sites out there). In fact I only really trust the Polish mag CD-Action but since it's a monthly magazine it may take a while until their review arrives.

The music of this game... I NEED IT!
Can someone edit this article and add GOG to the " media / distribution " ?

Did anyone get this yet? Any impressions? Looks pretty interesting.
I love you with all of my being GOG, but at the same time, fuck you.

*is now broke*

Oh, so part of the complaints about difficulty from Eurogamer revolved around the fact that there were no mid-level saves? That makes a whole lot more sense then. I don't mind dying in a game, but I hate, hate, hate, checkpoint saves, especially if they are very far apart from one another.
This looks really fantastic. I tend to prefer thinking over reflexes, but for some reason space sims are an exception for me--I'm always looking for ones that are more arcadey and less strategic. I don't think I've got the RAM and graphics card to handle this, though.

ghostrider176: Apologies for my ignorance but does this statement imply that GOG does not have any plans to release DLC for those who add the game to their accounts after the first month at all or that it will be a regularly priced addon?
Judging by the way they say 'for free', I take it that it will be a regularly priced addon/upgrade in the future. Maybe if you wait enough years the DLC will become part of the game's content for free anyway. AFAIK this is the first game that will have such a DLC system on GOG (not counting how The Witcher games were handled).
There's no reviews up yet. So, when is someone going to play it and tell me if it's good or not?

I like good things. Sold.
So, would a blue text explain the first month thing? Is GOG going to start putting DLC up for sale all the time or is it just when they can't get a complete version? What are the price ranges of the DLC? I don't care if they do it if it means more games coming here but it would be nice if they explained that a little...
