The classic hack&slash saga continues!

Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, a dark hack&slash-type action-rpg with an original story and imaginative gameworld, is available at -20% for Windows, DRM-Free on GOG.com, with Book 1 available right now, and Book 2 planned for February 2015.

Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms is the next chapter of the Heretic Kingdoms saga, set a few years after the events of Kult: Heretic Kingdoms, players are caught up in a terrible conspiracy and propelled upon an epic journey through a world of dark fantasy. Epic battles and unexpected plot twists await those brave enough to rise to the challenge! Take control of the Devourer, a demon that swallows the souls of the dead and brings them back into the mortal realm as puppets. But is the demon their master – or their servant?

If you played the classic Kult: Heretic Kingdoms (also known as Heretic Kingdoms: Inquisition, -50% in our sale right now!), if you enjoy dark fantasy stories full of demonic powers and ominous magic, or simply if you enjoy slicing and dicing through hordes of enemies, you should check out Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms with a special -20% promo for the first week on GOG.com!

Ghorpm: I think it's day 1 release. Correct me if I'm wrong of course.

Grargar: It used to be on early access on Steam. Today is the official release of the 1st part.
Right... When do I learn that I shouldn't say anything about Steam since I'm not using it at all... ;P Sorry Crosmando.
If only you guys could release Heretic and Heretic II :(
Really want to play the second again.
So how did this game end up? Just another aRPG where you mindlessly kill stuff or is there something that sets it apart?
Oh hell yes! Instant purchase here, thanks GOG!

Excellent release that has been high on my 'I hope it comes to GOG' wish list. Unfortunately funds are tight so it will have to wait a while but at least I know it's here - thanks GOG :)
Why? Whyyy does it have to come out now and I don´t have any dough... wishlisted, buying for sure.

It just might be the first game from our country which actually is any good.

A lot of those were from early access, and a lot of those types of reviews are intentionally very forgiving.

---------

A note of caution: It's using the old version of Ogre, and looks impressive for doing so, but it's single core CPU usage is fairly high (the new version of Ogre is better in this regard but the developer didn't use it for various reasons). This is going to be an issue for people with low-mid end AMD processors in particular - I personally think the minimum requirements are a bit lower than they should be in that regard (if you have something like a Phenom you're FPS is probably going to suck hard regardless of the rest of your rig).

For those wondering, instances in the game are statically generated, not procedurally like Diablo et al..
No mention of Tom Baker's narrations on the games store page. It might only matter to Whovians, but as one, I would consider that a selling point.

Regardless, super excited to see this game here on Day One. Thanks for that, GOG!
Tempted and also like many others, money is short. Really expensive couple of weeks for me and two weeks off before I get paid again. I'm surprised to see a new game here during a sale, but I guess it has to be since it is being released to other stores as well.
LOL, when I saw that on the homepage I thought it was a bug and they were reposting the news about the first Heretic Kingdoms :o)
Oh I didn't even know this was gonna be released so soon lol.

Well no regional pricing and it looks good, probably get this one on the weekend heh.
So what is the correlation between the developer of the first game, 3D People, and the second game, Games Farm? Same people under a different name?

Actually, that tidbit of info does make a difference, thanks. I'm waiting to see what the next few days of bundles are, but if none of those are more immediate buys, this will probably get picked up.

Yup. From the wikipedia article:

"Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms is an action RPG to be released on PC in 2014. The isometric game is developed by the Slovakian studio Games Farm, formerly known as 3D People,[1] and published by bitComposer Games."
