We're ridin' dirty, we're ridin' dirty...

Screamer 4X4, a rugged off-road racing game where 4WD is king, is veering off the the well-traveled track and heading out into the wild for a clean $5.99 only on GOG.com!

YEEEHAAAAAW! We're finally going out where we can let our hair down and get dirty! There ain't nothing like driving in low gear with your differential locked as you try to bypass those dadgum trees on the second curve of what could be loosely termed as a racetrack. Shoot, son, this isn't another one of those "oh, he made ANOTHER left turn" racing games! You gotta get your hands dirty as you race through painstakingly modeled terrain and realistic 4WD (4 wheel drive for those not in the know) handling. Choose from a variety of racing modes--Free Drive, Championship, or Trophy--and play solo or against your friends in LAN multiplayer.

Get the hell off the tarmac and get your dirt on in Screamer 4X4, for only $5.99 now on GOG.com!
When i read the title i thought it was another 4x4 strategy game.

zeffyr: Why do Germans always have to translate titles?
Nope, I'm sure you've got us mixed up with the french folks. :-p

It seems that the checkout doesnt work atm due to the sale. Will try again later.

Austrobogulator: I would pay good money for a 4X 4X4 game.

It would have to be set in space though.
Like this one? :>

If so, vote for it! :)

Nordwolf: Isn't that "Bleifuß: Offroad"? Never had the idea that it was a part of the Screamer series...
Yes, it is :)

zeffyr: According to the Wiki it is that. Why do Germans always have to translate titles? I mean 'Screamer' is such an unusual and ear-catching title! :)
avatar
Nordwolf: Ah, thanks! Never played it, so I was a bit unsure... Don't ask me why, but maybe Screamer was too unusual that nobody would have considered it a racing game? "Bleifuß" [means " with the pedal to the metal"] is much more appropriate imo :-)
I heard it meant leadfoot in German, which slang-wise is the same as "pedal to the metal" :D

Bleifuß is the German name for the Screamer series. Only exception is that the game Bleifuß Fun was called Ignition anywhere else but German-speaking countries.
Any chance Screamer 4x4 will be on Spring Sale ? :-P
Does the game support HighRes via mods? I din´t find anything on WSGF.org!
Oh, and according to the screenshots, this game simply SCREAMS for SuperSampleAntiAliasing!
Is it possible to force it via driver? I´m no grafics fanatic, but I like playing games like this, eg. MDK, ShadowMan, Sacrifice, Messiah and so on with perfect AntiAliasing.
They just look so sharp, so un-edgy, they´ve got no flickering anymore and look more like they originally were intended to look like!

Ha, thanks again. That is funny. I own the other two Screamer games here on GOG and did not know they were called Bleifuß... but I heard of Bleifuß Offroad and did not know it was also called Screamer... so confusing...

No I absolutely agree to zeffyr that all thsi translating is too much :-D

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? :P

Being from Denmark I have seen my fair share of crinchworthy title translations... My favourite is probably the movie Cruel Intentions. In Danish it ended up being called Sex Games... That's just too weird for me. Why translate English into English and then just try to make it sound like a porn film?

Luckily enough we are too small a country for them to translate computer game titles except for VERY few titles primarily aimed at children. And at least we don't have synchronized speach in movies... Except for again a few children's movies. Subtitles for everything!!! That'll be my slogan :-)
