All of your base are belong on the moon.

Moonbase Commander a unique and charming mix of strategy, puzzle, management, and arcade games set in the barren landscape of the Moon itself, is now available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

Looking for a game with original gameplay idea? Look no further! Moonbase Commander delivers one of the most unique mechanics ever to be seen in a computer game. The objective of the game is to establish a working network of facilities and structures in the otherworldly planes of an inhabitable moon. Each and every node of your infrastructure needs to be launched upwards so that it lands in the correct position. This brings some similarities to a golf game into the picture. But that's not all the challenge you will find in the barren landscape. Other commanders try to establish their bases in the same territory. You'll need to include some defensive structures in your design and try to get your weapon systems as close to your enemies as possible and skillfully launch your attacks--just as in a game of [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/worms_united]Worms. Just remember that all of the nodes need to stay connected by power supply lines!

Moonbase Commander stands out with its unique gameplay. It's one of these games that take a minute get into but days and days to master. Masterfully programmed AI will provide a real challenge while you race for control over scarce resources and try to keep your quickly growing base fully operational. The game comes with an extremely easy to use map editor, so you can never run out of scenarios to play!

Carefully plan your moves, take aim, launch your modules, and extend your territory crushing your opponents and proving that you're the supreme Moonbase Commander, for only $5.99!

Fuzzyfireball: Quake 3? :P
I _think_ it was in Quake 2, but wouldn't be surprised if it was in the original and Q3 as well. :)

F4LL0UT: Certainly an interesting release. For some weird reason I had to think of Netstorm - another very original strategy game that has to come to GOG.
Um. Wasn't that game played more or less entirely online? I'm not sure the servers are still up for a game that old...

RafaelLopez: I never heard of this game and it's getting raving reviews.

Heheh... who's the genius behind these "what's cool about it" pointers?

tfishell: I always assumed TET wrote that stuff.
Nope. Gamecards are initially created by Judas based off original official materials then--in many cases--corrected by me. In this case, guys, take it to the original box art creator ;-)

Anyway: I played the game and found it challenging. More, and more challenging the longer I played. In perspective, I wouldn't attribute the difficulty level to AI prowess only ;-P Still--that's what the box said!

EDIT:
The newspost, however, was written by me--as usual--and I did include a line about the brilliance of the AI opponent :-> But really, can you blame me? We were releasing the goddamn Carmageddon yesterday. :-D

Psyringe: What the ...?

I'm basically _living_ in these forums for the past few weeks, and I have no recollection of this game being released. I know I'm getting old, but I had hoped to fight back the memory loss for a bit longer ...
I think Carmageddon getting released the same day may have overshadowed Moonbase Commander's release so I wouldn't take it as a sign of getting old :D

Psyringe: You released Carmageddon?!

...

Nah, just kidding. Yep, that may have been the reason. :)
We did?!?! Why was I not informed ?!?!

Damn, I think I lost a month or three :P
