Winter has come.

King's Bounty: Warriors of the North Complete Edition, the next chapter in the cult RPG/adventure saga, coming complete with the Ice and Fire expansion, is available with -75% special discount for the next first week on GOG.com. For that time you can also get the regular edition, and optionally the complete edition upgrade if you change your mind, with the same discount.

King's Bounty: Warriors of the North Complete Edition takes place in the familiar world of Endoria featured in the previous games, but begins in the Viking lands, which the celebrated hero Bill Gilbert never visited during his famous quest in King’s Bounty: The Legend. The Mighty Olaf, son of the Konung of Northlings, has dedicated his life to battling the undead who have infested the northern lands of Endoria. He seeks to liberate the snowy wastes, dwarven dungeons, and the very heart of Endoria, the kingdom of Darion itself, from the dark grip of necromancy. On his quest towards immortal glory he will encounter cunning foes and new friends, hard battles and amazing adventures.

With King's Bounty: Warriors of the North Complete Edition one of the greatest fantasy strategy series comes back to life, and you can - once again - lovingly embrace it on GOG.com, at -75% discount until Tuesday, December 16, at 10:59AM GMT.

jamotide: It is not supposed to be like Homm, these are remakes of Kings Bounty 1, the RPG that came before Homm. As remakes they are fantastic, but if you don't like the gameplay of Kings Bounty, you wont like this and Dark Side either.

I love the gameplay, and after playing two days, I recommend it to anyone who liked The Legend and AP. Obviously I havent gotten to the endgame and all the game breaking bugs people are talking about yet, I might change my tune then :D
No, no! You misunderstand, I wanted to like them and parts of Legend I liked very much. I just disliked having to flush my whole army every time I went to a new region. So if Warriors of the North fixes that, then I probably will like it and play it to death.

Then you won't like it, so far I had to change my army alot, but I think it makes the game interesting.

I don't understand why The Legend was "extremely underwhelming" and "a flashy, shallow version of HoMM III" for you. I remember playing through it with mostly the same army, because you could always revive everyone. Same was possible in AP, I think.

Since there seems to be a bug with pricing for this game im going to post this here: Why did the price change from 5.99€ (release price) to 6.09€ (valid now) - its not a big deal but still annoying.

Methinks you need to give all KB more of a chance. I love HOMM2/3 to death, and I just as equally love KB to death. It's just as good, if not better. HOMM3 was only a framework and the single player narrative was weak. Epic, but poorly done. It's strength was in the sound design formula, user maps, replayability of randoms, and multiplayer. KB has no multi, and no map maker or random maps (just random generation), but the single player game is better than HOMM3's. Including HOMM3's single player user modes and randoms.

And I don't get what you mean by "flush my whole army every time I went to a new region"? You lost it all? Or you felt you have to change it to survive?

It's a bug that probably happened when GOG updated the Australian and Russian conversion rates yesterday. As a result, the Euro-converted prices of a number of discounted games jumped each by 10 cents. As you may notice, the discount for the game appears to be 74%, instead of 75% as it was yesterday, but the base price (€23.79) remains the same.

Niggles: Is the DLC for this worth it ? (considering just getting the base game for now)
Well, vast majority of the quests are the same, there is one extra island (Ice gardens) and the plot in my opinion is slightly improved. A few extra units (pyromancers, Ice Phoenix), some changes to statistics in other units, a few extra spells. But there is one change that I liked a lot and it is levelling of your units (which improves their statistics - attack, defence, HP, critical hit), which makes you stick with your units and the game rewards for not changing your army too often. This change made the base game less stable, but it is playable and crashes are occassional.
I hope the snow elves will be better than the disappointment that the original elves were.
I'm currently playing KB Dark Side (I think it's the Snow White that Jmich is referring to).

It took me awhile to get into it cos there is no manual for the game...(wtf???), but I am enjoying it now.

Whats the best KB game available here on GOG, I seem to get a "mixed" vibe from WOTN, which is a shame cos I love Viking stuff.

WOTN is the most buggy among KB games here, other than that, it's pretty much the same as the others, enjoyed all of them.

And for me it has definitely the best soundtrack. ;)
