Test your intelligent design!

Incredipede, an imaginative puzzle game with unique mechanics and remarkable art style, is now available on GOG.com 20% off. That's only $11.99 until Thursday, November 1, at 10:59AM GMT.

Creatures changing their ways and their physique over thousands of generations, adjusting to their ever-changing natural habitat? How impractical! Had there been a chasm in their path, they would have to wait hundreds of years and sacrifice countless legions of their brethren on futile attempts to get to the other side, before one of them was finally born with legs strong enough to complete the task. What a waste of time and energy. Why in the world would you want to wait for them to learn to solve their problems on their own? That's not the way nature works, I tell you. If they need need wings, give them wings! If they need gills, just strap some on them! Ha! Evolution--what a laughable concept.

Incredipede is an exceptional game on many levels. The first thing that instantly stands out is its art style. The world of Incredipede looks like a woodcut illustration of some XVIII century book. The unique look of this game is easily matched by its original concept. You help a strange creature named Quozzle reach its goal in a multitude of cleverly designed stages. To do so, you equip it with extra limbs and strap muscles on its body, to handcraft it into a fantastic specimen designed exclusively to conquer the obstacles at hand. But there's still a whole other layer to the game. The ability to produce your own levels and creatures, share them online, and browse other players' creations and solutions, make Incredipede a limitless sandbox for devious puzzles, mindblowing experiments, and perfecting your intelligent designs!

Step in to the beautiful, woodcut lands and become the Creator and master of faith of the strange creature known as the Incredipede, for only $11.99.

Sargon: Wow, some of the best graphics I've seen in a while. And the gameplay looks like fun too. I'm thinking a more advanced version of Action SuperCross\Elasto Mania? :-)

;)
Ha ha. I posted it several times but it didn't show up, but then it hit me, I wasn't looking at the thread in the forum but the thread in the release announcement.
So another week goes by with only one old game, and it's not even that old. It used to be that we'd be getting 2 old releases a week guaranteed.

Ahh, that explains it then.

gameon: Wow, possibly a few of the greatest pixels i have seen in quite some time. Plus the style of game appears to be rather good. I am thinking a higher quality edition of Action SuperCross\Elasto Mania?
:D

You gave me a good laugh with that one.

I'm not into puzzle games, but the art style here is really impressive.

ColinNorthway: Hey everyone! I just wanted to say hi. I'm Colin Northway, the author of Incredipede.

It's been a lot of work and a labour of love for me, my wife and the artist Thomas Shahan. I hope we managed to bring you a wonderful experience.

Sorry I'm late to the party!
It looks awesome. Buying as soon as I get home!
Hey Colin, it's always great to see devs visit GOG.

This game is awesome, I've just wasted several hours looking at player-submitted creatures and level solutions. Some of them are rather amazing, some are somewhat disturbing, and a lot of them are a bit of both.
Some people's reaction to this game makes me think of the movie the Human Centipede, which while I have not seen, the mere concept that floats in my mind completely disgusts and freaks me out...
Sorry to drop in and then immediately disapear again!

I'm not just _a_ dev. I'm pretty much _the_ dev. My Wife Sarah helped with programming towards the end but it's mostly my project (she wrote a game called Rebuild, which is awesome).

@jefequeso With the art style we were aiming for slightly gross and disturbing and then endering. After living with Quozzle for a whlie we don't see her as gross at all anymore.

I'm just kind of sick of the cute&cuddly or dark&gritty game characters. We decided to hit a different note and try to be more evocative. Thomas (the artist) and I really love the gross comments because it means people are reacting to the art in a stronger way then just "yep, there's a game character".

If someone doesn't play Incredipede because they think it's too gross then they're probably not inately curious enough to enjoy the game.

@grviper Never played Sexy Hiking although it's on my long should-play list.

I find it somewhat endearing, but this comes from the guy who had a pet praying mantis as a kid.

Overall, the gameplay looks amazing. Mind blowingly awesome concept that you have there.

I rarely get this enthusiastic about a game just by looking at a clip.

Nice work.

I must say I don't find it gross at all but I like weird looking games so I guess I'm used it to it but the art design is really unique, I like that. Great that you offer a trial on your page as well.

I personally like the character. The impression I get is closer to that of a real animal (cute in its own way, but organic and functional) than a typical videogame creature. I do think the bone ends are a bit much, and make me feel a little queasy. But it's at least interesting. And the overall art style is very cool. It's refreshing to see an indie game that doesn't rely on throwbacks to the NES/SNES era.

I will probably be buying the game at some point. It looks like a very cool idea.

Glad you apreciate the art style... this is kind of a secret... don't tell anyone else... but if you think that's gross you should try pulling a leg to max distance and just holding it there for a few seconds.

(only works in the full version though, not the online demo :/ )

Hi Colin! Out of curiosity, is your wife by any chance the Sarah Northway that made Rebuild?
