Bad influence. Just like the Roadrunner cartoons.

, the infamous adventure game exploring the darkest corners of human psyche and boasting graphic violence in the best tradition of b-movies, is available in its uncensored version on GOG.com, for only $5.99. Our exclusive interview with Lee Jacobson, the game's producer, can be found in the [url=http://gogcom.tumblr.com/post/78954868646/harvester-interview]GOG.com Official Blog.

Remember, this is all just a game. You'll play as the amnesiac Steve (who is such a kidder!) as you try to figure out why you should join the Order of the Harvest Moon and discover the horror that lurks just beneath Harvest's small-town veneer. Meet some of the strangest characters to ever grace the computer screen--such as Mr. Pottsdam who really, really loves red meat or Colonel Monroe who guards the nuclear missile base and holds The Button. Harvest is a lovely town and the locals aim to keep it that way, no matter the cost...

Harvester is believed by some to be the inspiration for establishing the Entertainment Software Rating Board, as the game's first public showing at 1994 CES caused enough controversy to take the debate over violence in games to a whole new level. This title takes every possible opportunity to throw gore and graphic violence at the player. It wasn't, however, designed only to shock the audience. It's trippy story taking off in small-town America and touching down in mass-murderville can easily be attributed with a deeper meaning. How dark is the darkness at the bottom of the human soul? In its own campy, over-the-top way, this unique title looks for the answer to that question. With traditional puzzle-oriented point-and-click gameplay, live-action sequences, and characters portrayed by real-life actors, this nearly 20 year old game is still more than enjoyable. That is, if you can stomach the gore.

If you want to see a game that would never have a chance to be made in modern times, you really need a copy of Harvester, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

PS. The GOG.com team would like to heartlily thank our long-time user and supporter, tfishell, whose help in securing the release rights for this title was invaluable!
While I find this game laughably bad, I'm glad it's here in its uncensored glory. My play through of it was a mixture of laughter and frustration.

So, again, I'm glad it's here, but man did I laugh hard when I saw it on the front page :P
The Lodge is finally taking new members. For those with the right credentials. I've actually got an original boxed uncensored version. Do not Wiki this game if you want to play it...the Wiki article tells you the ending right up front, and the ending is everything in this game.
Wow, that sure was an unexpected release.

I am still undecided if this game/story is actually good or not, but what I can say is that I prefer this kind of strong personality/character (be it good or bad) to the blandness of today's games. It is an interesting experience.
Been looking forward to this one for a long, long time. Thank you to everyone involved in helping to get this game on here. Also, absolutely LOVE the word "uncensored".
I approve this release. This is the uncensored version, right? I have the retail version, I think it is supposed to be the uncensored version. But I couldn't ever be fully sure, as I am unsure what exactly tells whether the version is censored or not.

Back then I recall there being talk about a certain axe scene that would be either missing or shortened in the censored version. But looking at Mobygames trivia for this game, it mentions mainly some cannibal scene.

I think my retail version has that, unless I am thinking of the "ingame sections" that were still in the censored version... Does anyone know for sure how to tell the uncensored version from the censored.

Aaaaah! Amnesia again... Can't remember the last time I suffered from amnesia...
I really hope to see the day when Atari or who-has-the-Blood-franchise-rights release the source code from Blood, so we could use the Gog version for sweet sourceports <3

But really thank you to our fellow members : ) fandom power achieve hard tasks sometimes!

If you don't have the Merit logo being displayed and you have an English version then it's censored :) The US version had the Merit logo show up instead of the Virgin Interactive logo :)

The only censored part was the Teple of Mother's Love. If you have it, your game is uncensored :)

Also, everybody: don't forget to check tfishell's giveaway (to which I made a small contribution :)) here:

So was this confirmed? I tried to find it in the announcement. I hope this is not the censored version by mistake (like the Fallout games were?).
