Burning Trees, Driving Cars, Exploring a Dense African Jungle, While Holding an RPG-7.

Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition an open-world first-person shooter in a sprawling African landscape, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Far Cry 2 may seem like a regular FPS in an open world, very realistic and graphic, but it’s more than just a sequel to the original. Far Cry 2 takes game realism to another level: you’re always looking from first-person view, the HUD is almost non-present, the environment is fully destructible, you need to pick up an in-game object when you want to see a map or use a GPS system and take wind, rain, day and night (this affects enemy’s AI!) into consideration when planning your moves and attacks. The African setting of Far Cry 2 is rich and detailed. Each of the twenty square kilometers of beautiful wilderness--ranging from scorching deserts to thick jungles--hides weapons, objects, and missions. The level of freedom and immersion is unmatched, and the experience of constructing your own story while you take down the sadistic but intelligent arms-dealer known only as “The Jackal” is rewarding and spectacular.

Far Cry 2 isn’t a short game, either. It’s a long open-world extravaganze which takes from 40 to 70 hours to to beat. And after all this time, when you recover from malaria and bullet wounds, you can create new multiplayer worlds for up to 16 players, making full use of vehicles, weapons, and weather systems in four different game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond and Uprising. Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition contains the full Far Cry 2 game, including all previously released patches and the Far Cry 2 Fortunes DLC with additional content like new weapons and vehicles.

Get trapped in a fantastic story and brilliant setting for only $9.99, DRM-free and equipped with goodies, only on GOG.com.

Bodkin: Thank God for that ;)

Also not warlord but weapon dealer.

Licurg: Weapon dealer, warlord... Still a guy with guns:P
He who has the guns makes the rules....
I'm absolutely serious though, the GameStop preorder bonus missions change everything, turn the whole story on its head. It absolutely needs to be included here.

Sorry, just couldn't resist :)

jefequeso: HOLY CRAP!

This is by far my favorite flawed FPS out there, and I can't wait to try out a new DRM-free version on my future gaming rig. Thanks GOG!

coldtony: Ah. You never played Boiling Point then. That's my favourite flawed sandbox FPS set in a jungle. Being horribly broken ended up being one of the more attractive features of Boiling Point.
Just got Max Payne three today and for some reason I have always thought of BP when I think of MP3.

There was I think two updates for BP, I know I had Update 2 for the european retail version, that significantly fixed it iirc.

But yeah, a great game :)

The soundtrack is really good. :)
Is there any patch or mod that stops those bloody respawning checkpoints... I hated those with passion. Gave up on the game because of this ...

*whistles* Ohai!

I tried looking around moddb for you, but the only mod that had anything to do with the checkpoints is rather dead in the water at this time.

this is $10? seriously!? holy crapazord consider it bought!
I bought this in a heart beat because it's such an awesome (i.e. good looking) sandbox shooter. Since this game I've fallen in love with arid landscapes and muddy waters...

P.S. GOG, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, plEEEEEEEEEAAAAAse bring the Ubisoft Silent Hunters here. Pretty please!? :D
This game looks good, I'm interested.
Played this game multiple times. One thing I can say, its unforgiving but really thrilling. The AI bothers me sometimes because at some point if you hide long enough or stalk them long enough they would just sit there over by the bushes ignoring you.

oh thats who he is! the only movie I saw him in was North by Northwest, which was great!
is this game really does not have any DRM to speak of? asking this to the people who got the game here from GOG.com.

GOG's M.O. is no DRM at all, so any game here is DRM-free in the truest sense. Not just a marketing euphemism.
Its a pretty good open world game but with no re-playability, its far too repetitive to be played through a second time.
