Sometimes, true love just falls from the sky!

Deponia, a gorgeous adventure game that feels like a cartoon based on works of Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99 until Thursday, September 13 at 10:59 AM GMT.

Rufus would have been a nice guy, really. That is, if he wasn't such a self-important, all-knowing jerk. But hey! Living your whole life in the middle of a junkyard can do that to you. Why does he live in a junkyard, you might ask. Well, it's not like he had much choice. The whole surface of the planet Deponia is covered with a thick layer of trash. That's why our ambitious protagonist always dreamed of getting into one of the upper spheres, where the privileged part of Deponia's population leads a life full of luxurious bliss, probably even unaware of the garbage piles below. But everything is about to change, as a girl named Goal suddenly falls from the cities above with a warning of impending doom.

Deponia is a top-notch point-and-click adventure game from the makers of The Whispered World. It combines the classic adventure game controls with beautiful cartoony graphics and heaps of brilliant humor. The garbage-filled planet Deponia, with all of its gadgets and gizmos, is one of the most captivating, original settings ever to be featured in a video game. With hundreds of challenging puzzles, tons of witty and skillfully enacted dialogs, and amazing cinematic cut-scenes, Deponia is a game that every adventure fan should experience.

Join Rufus and Goal on their voyage through the mystifyingly beautiful garbage-filled landscapes of Deponia, for only $14.99 in the release week!

Daedalic_Carsten: We learned much in the years and from loca to loca the quality of our international versions rise.
Heh... In spanish "loca" means "crazy woman" so I ended up doing a double take on this line.

And welcome to GOG Daeda... oh wait, you already had the Whispered World here so... uh... welcome again?

Daedalic_Carsten: Someone here wrote maybe the localization for one of our games we did in the past, The Whispered World, was not the best. He is right, but we think it was ok, not stellar.
I like it though, that is the German original. And I really regret it isn't available from GOG which is why I didn't buy the game here. Any chance for the German voiceovers of The Whispered World to still turn up here?

Btw, thanks for allowing GOG to release Deponia with multi-language support! This game of yours I will buy, because of it. :)

Last but not least, is there any way to change the resolution of Deponia in fullscreen mode (like in windowed mode), and if not, why not? Thanks!

A great release, I was kind of expecting it to end up here given that the German version was already DRM-free on GG and that Whispered World has already been released here.

Finished the game some weeks ago (when it was released in France), it's not very long nor very hard (it's not "Telltales easy" and longer than the recent Pendulo games), but it's a good game, with nice looking graphics, a likeable jerk as main character as main character and some clever puzzles, as of yet it's one of my favorite adventure game of 2012. I really hope its sequel will be also be released in English.

Daedalic_Carsten: ...
Greta to see you here Carsten!

I'm really glad that Deponia offers English and German voice overs. Is there any chance to have the German version of The Whispered World added to site?

Thanks for releasing it here, but i don`t need to buy it (again), since i buyed it as it was released the first time.

I like it really much and i wait for Deponia 2. If you release Deponia 2 later here on GOG as a multi-language version, i would be really happy.

Deponia 2 will be in english, german and russian here. For The Whispered World we can not offer the german version here.

But stay tuned for many additional releases from our back catalogue and our future titles.

Carsten

GOG rocks!

That's sad, because than I can't buy it here. Could you specify the reason for this?
GOG rocks!
That's true though!
But I guess we can't expect to see Satinavs Ketten here in the foreseeable future?

Really? I'm kinda surprised by this one.
Isn't that a Steamworks title? And isn't the publisher Deep Silver, who loves jerking off to pictures of St. Gabe?

But well, I'm not complaining. The more good games not Steam-exclusive, the better.

Oh yes, maybe i am wrong with The Dark Eye -;)

Really? I thought I read you (or someone else of the team) stating on Adventure-Treff that there will be no DRM-free version for this game ... That's awesome news, thanks! :)

I've played Deponia a couple of hours today and well, one thing I can say for sure - A New Beginning and Edna are going to be Day-1 for me. Very-well done game, even English VO is good which is uncommon for non-English games. And Toni and Lonzo are such a fun to chat with. Who can resist a sarcastic woman with a cigarette, right? :)

Thanks for clarifying the situation on The Whispered World, Carsten.

Yeah, the Edna and Deponia games are, or better said will be, forever-classics like Monkey Island and Simon The Sorcerer. For me Daedalic Entertainment can compare without any problems with developers like Lucas Arts or Adventure Soft.
