A delightful mixture of tower defense and RPG.

Defender's Quest, a highly addictive mixture of tower defense and role-playing game set in a world shattered by mysterious disease, is now available 33% off on GOG.com. That's only $9.99 until Tuesday, November 6, at 10:59 AM GMT.

The Kingdom of Ash was not a nice place to live. The mysterious Plague decimated the citizens and the war seemed to have no end. The court librarian Azra, however, led a peaceful life buried in her books and shielded from all grisly matters by the castle walls. Then all of a sudden--she was ill. As all of the Plague victims she was tossed into The Pit by the royal watchmen. Never she would suspect the horrors that awaited her in this underworld of villainy, necromancy, and greed. But she survived, mysteriously cured of her illness. Now, with newly-gained mystical powers and a party of allies, she has to follow her destiny.

In the times where tower defense games are a dime a dozen, Defender's Quest really stands out from the crowd. This game is to tower defense games as Puzzle Quest is to the match three genre. The RPG elements make it immensely enjoyable and add layers upon layers of strategic planning, character development, and intriguing storyline. These are no simple towers defending the battlefield in this one. These are characters you'll grow invested in. There are multitude of settings that let you control every aspect of their behavior in battle. Should the archer target the weakest enemy, or should she spam her arrows randomly causing damage to the whole horde of your foes? Should your berserker develop his ability to attack three monsters with one blow or concentrate on his HP regeneration ability? A seemingly simple strategic decision could easily turn the tide of a battle!

Gather a party, master your skills, crush monsters, hoard loot, and survive the onslaught while you set out on the Defender's Quest, for only $9.99.

Trailer made me laugh: "My name is Azra. I am dying". Wow! The biggest cliché since... well, I can't even remember! It made my day! That was just perfect!

And about the game... well Tower Defense is not my cup of tea but this game looks somewhat different. Perhaps I will get it...
Is it just me or is tower defense THE indie genre? My steam account is full of the damn things (from indie bundles). I played and enjoyed Defense Grid: The Awakening but I have at least 8 others that I played briefly then put down because they weren't engaging and were too similar. These things are the Modern Warfare Scenario FPS of the indie genre.
While I'm happy they're on the major downloader sites, I had prior bought it from them directly. I don't have it on my new laptop, and it sounds like I'm going to have to jump through some hoops to get a download link. Their old download links expire, so now I have to contact their hosting company to get a new link so I can download the game. A weee bit of a pain in the ass.

But the game itself is really good. I haven't played it in months, but it was a really superb mix of RPG and tower defense.

Lars posted here saying they'll be giving out GOG codes to all who preordered :)

Well, GOG caters for everyone.

Well if it makes a difference to your decision, I hate TD games too, but I love this one (Plants vs Zombies is the only other TD game I love). Something different about this; I don't think my review does it justice either.

They pretty much pushed all the right buttons with this one.
Can Indies make other games too?
@Hawk52: Sent you a PM.

Resetting download links is our #1 customer service job, and we're happy to do it. Our stupid storefront software makes the links expire, and that's why we'll never be using them (FastSpring) again. After arguing with them for months we got them to make freshly ordered download links last for a year whereas they used to last only for a week. It's still not good enough for me - they should last forever in my opinion, but it's the best we can do for now until we get a better storefront solution.

On the upside, as lowlyhong said, we are also sending out GOG/Steam keys to our previous customers as soon as we can figure out the technical details.
Looks nice. Going to give it a try.
Bought it, enjoyed it! There are free updates and customer service is excellent! What's not to love?
It is first tower defense game released here, so we shouldn't be oversaturated with TD's as some claim to be.
What's with the price, though? Why is it 10 bucks on developers site and 15 here (without sale)?
I knew buying it on Kongregate with kreds was a good idea! Haven't played it in quite some time, but I still have my save file stored for when I get back into it.
Vitek:

It's technically "on sale" on our site, too. The price will go up to 14.99 on our site when the sale ends.
