As heroic as fantasy gets!

Blade of Darkness, a brutal and challenging TPP action hack ‘n’ slasher set in a dark and gritty heroic fantasy realm that feels like a Robert E. Howard novel, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99

Heroic fantasy--a genre of fiction that has fueled the imaginations of many generations. Dark and brutal worlds full of injustice and ominous magic are always waiting for a champion: a man or woman, scantily clad, wielding a legendary weapon, slashing beasts and villains left and right, and looking as fabulous as a demigod. This is the heart and soul of such stories and it didn't change much since the time of ancient myths. The fact that we enjoy them so much proves that we aren't that different from our great ancestors and tales of godlike heroism still get our blood run pumping. Gather ‘round, friends, and hear the story of four heroes and their epic battle against the dark overlord, Dal Gurak, the necromancer.

Blade of Darkness is a third person perspective action game that focuses on combat. Each of the four heroes has its very own set of moves and statistics, and starts the adventure in a different area. There's over 100 different weapons you can use in the game, each with its own characteristics that reflect on the fighting style. New special attacks can be unlocked as your character gains experience and power. While you slash and bash through the hordes of terrifying monsters, you will feel the urge sometimes to stop and look at the beautiful--if a bit gloomy--surroundings. If you're looking for a game that will take you on a fantastic quest filled with merciless combat, this is the one to pick up!

There are great deeds of bravery and might to be done in Blade of Darkness, for only $5.99 on GOG.com. Get heroic!

BiskutMentega: Watched some gameplay video on youtube. Drinking potion and then discarding the empty flask looks really great. Somehow feels like Dark Souls. Too bad I got some backlog to finish first.

tinyE: Blasphemy! I'm in the middle of 2 dungeon crawlers, 3 RPGs, 2 FPS, and a virtual cribbage game and the only reason I haven't bought this yet is because of lack of funds which I will remedy soon enough. NEVER let a backlog stop you my friend!
I Lol'd hard.

But really, I'm trying hard to keep the backlog as little as possible. Too many indie bundles. :P
Best. Fuckin'. Slasher.

Same as me. This year i already bought couple of GOGs.

Best thing about GOG is the price point is already low from the beginning. It's not like the game on sale, limited offer or anything. So take your time, no need to rush.
I'm in the middle of Gothic which is making my wait to payday for this one really tough. Every time I hack up an Orc I think "If only I could take one of his limbs and throw it at somebody!"

Actually, now that I think about it, that usually crosses my mind whatever I'm doing period.
My initial thoughts on this was: "WTF is this?" followed by "A sequel to (the awful) Die by the Sword?"

That said, after reading through some posts and watching some (better) screenshots and videos, this looks quite good in fact. I'm not buying right away, but I'll probably pick it up eventually.
For anyone even considering this, watch this video! :

I mean how cool is that. I love the dynamic blood, when you cut of enemy's head and the blood sputters on the wall and dynamically smears over it...such attention to detail :D

If anyone likes Dark Souls, this is in some respects even better.
Yes! YES! YES!

GOG, you lately manages to surprise me in unexpected ways: first, System Shock 2 got released (not to mention NWN2 + Bard´s Tale), now this - thank you very much.
Gonna buy tomorrow, after some money influx :)

Titanium: Get this game, it's gory and violent and merciless and you can definitely throw limbs at your opponents. What more do you need?

Stooner: You're also describing Shadow of Rome... ;p
There is also a distinct lack of stealth based missions. More for the win.
This game es EPIC, just buy it, is one of the best spanish games <3
I remember this being the first "graphic intense" game I ever had for the computer (that or it was American McGee's Alice, not sure which one I owned first). I kind of remember it crashing a bit but our computer at the time probably just couldn't handle it. Going to have to pick this one up!
I am surprised this game is receiving such a warm welcome here. I thought it was mostly unknown outside of Spain. At least, when I was living in the US I never met a person who knew about it. But that's maybe because it had so many names and I was using the wrong one...

One of my favourite experiences with this game:

I picked up an axe that my character was not able to properly use.

However, I could THROW it.

So I threw it at a group of three enemies.

DISMEMBERING THEM ALL.
Back when the game first came out it had a strong sense of reality to me. Playing Severance often made me think "so this would it be like to fight monsters for real". It helps that there is not much narration.
So tomorrow is my parent's anniversary and I agreed to take them out to dinner. So I told them I had a brilliant idea and that I could better spend that money on "Blade of Darkness" and we could hang out here and play instead of going to some stuffy restaurant and eating overpriced seafood. So I'm getting use to only having one eye and the doctors say I shouldn't have too bad of a limp for the rest of my life.
