No one wants to be a bad person.

Always Sometimes Monsters, a unique modern adventure title focusing on real world problems and traps of social life rather than fantasy and lighthearted escapism, is available 10% off on GOG.com. That's only $8.99 for the first week.

Most games aim to take us as far from everyday problems as possible and set us on fantastic quests to perform in the realm of imagination. Yet the real life and interaction with other people tends to be much more challenging, and the obstacles we find on our way every day are much more difficult. In most games, there's always a good way out of most situations. It's the reality that often drops impossible choices on us. This is a game about such choices. Here, out of money and out of luck, you find yourself heart broken and on the verge of collapse. You set out on the open road on a mission to win back the love of your life. The story from there is up to you. Can your life be salvaged, or are we always sometimes monsters?

Always Sometimes Monsters is a title designed for a mature gamer who isn't afraid to face his fears and problems that reflect what we're dealing with each day in the real world. You'll be faced with racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, mental health, sexual assault, child abuse, animal abuse, drug abuse, and suicide. Every choice you make affects the virtual (yet lifelike) world and affects the protagonist and the people you'll meet on your path. You may find yourself struggling with every decision, but the outcome--whatever it might turn out to be--has the potential to feel like katharsis.

If you think you're up for the challenge that seems far from everything you've faced so far in the gaming realm, make sure to sign up for the original experience that is Always Sometimes Monsters, a Devolver Digital release, for only $8.99 on GOG.com. The 10% off release discount offer lasts until Wednesday, May 28, at 4:00PM GMT.

JMich: Bloodnet? Flatout 2? Stalker? SiN? Blackguards? Red Faction? Guild 2? Rex Nebular? Risen? Redline? Sudeki? F-117?
None of the above are adventure games, and most (if not all) were welcomed by the community. Tell me if you want a link to the list of releases, just to refresh your memory, even though it is perfectly acceptable to not have found any of the releases interesting.
Just pointing that rex nebular is an adventure game in case someone didn't yet, and i would class bloodnet as one too.

True, Rex slipped in undetected. Bloodnet I would classify it as an RPG though, but opinions are welcome :)

tfishell: which suggests to me good old games are still GOG's best bet and what they're still known best for on the internet.
At least in the two biggest German [url=http://www.gamestar.de/news/pc/3055944/gogcom.html]magazines, GOG is still called "Good Old Games" (have a look at the old Good Old Games logos). They completely ignore that it's "GOG.com" nowadays ;) So... Yeah, you're probably right with this one.

I appreciate that you weren't impressed, but would you mind adding a spoiler warning?

Pica-Ludica: So before bashing on GOG, pause to think a bit, and realise that availability of titles is not the top priority for everyone on this planet, and that Steam is all but faultless.
It's cool, you're welcome to your opinion, but I personally I don't view it so much as bashing but as trying to be constructive and realistic.

I tend to be "critically constructive" on the forum because I feel that's where change can happen (well, moreso than complaining on another site about GOG ;), BUT in a RCT release thread on Reddit, do notice how I mentioned all the points you did about GOG: http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/264nbc/rollercoaster_tycoon_deluxe_rollercoaster_tycoon/chnnz7z?context=3 (As well as the "one-world price", after somebody else mentioned that)

My post was huge, and I'm sure that doesn't help, but that's because I was at least trying to consider all points of view.

It can be tough because some people don't want any constructive criticism in a release thread or the posts to get off-topic at all, while other people couldn't give a crap.
Hmm...interesting..but looks a bit simple^^

JudasIscariot: And for any of you worried, this is not To The Moon 2.0, in case you were expecting a tear-jerker story :)
I'd buy To The Moon 2.0, I'm more worried that this could turn out to be a Richard & Alice 2.0. ;)

Starmaker: I couldn't find anything tear-jerkery about the story of To The Moon, *SPOILERS*
I'm no native speaker of course, but can't happy stories be tearjerkers, too, if told with enough pathos?

Yeah, Richard & Alice is the opposite of OOOH! SHINY! :P
Are you tired of your happy existence. Escape all that oversaturated joy with our misery machine. Sounds like a deal. Or not.
Well i bought it, mainly because i'm a sucker for Rpg maker games and the premise is interesting.

I hope you can be a complete asshat though and completely ruin your exes and everyone elses life though.

Guess i'll find out if i ever find the time to play it lol.

Starmaker: I couldn't find anything tear-jerkery about the story of To The Moon, except maybe the fate of the mother. Boy meets girl. Boy meets girl again. Boy falls in love with girl. They marry and lead the happiest life ever in recorded history. They get old and die with dignity, care and companionship. The end.

Oh, and the boy's brother tragically died, but he doesn't remember it, so it's okay. Only the mother goes slightly nuts, but considering how little screentime is afforded to her vs to the happiest love story evar, the writer(s) don't care about her and don't expect the player to care.
You could simplify many stories like that to make them look bad.

It's fine if you don't like it, but don't post as if your simplified version is an accurate representation of the story.
It still sounds like To The Moon since it was made in RPG Maker and not an RPG lol. Really want to play this one, can't wait till I get it looks amazing
Playing this game right now... Without spoiling too much...

FUCKING BOXING MINI GAME -.-
