Sorry if it's stupid question, but I have multiple physical games (ex. Rayman Forever) that can be bought of GoG. However, I don't really want to rebuy the game, as I have the disc to install it.

Would it be possible to "redeem" the games on GoG, or is that not possible?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm new to the site.

Sorry, the only option if you want them on GoG is to buy them again.
Sorry, GOG doesn't do that.
Sorry, not going to happen. What would be in it for GOG?
Thanks for answering. I was just wondering as some other online stores do that.

GOG does actually support the generation of activation keys, but it's up to the publisher/developer to request that they do that and to distribute them, so GOG are not the people to ask.

I don't actually know of any stores that give keys out themselves. With Steam the developers have to request Steam to generate the keys and then it's up to the dev to distribute them. With Desura it's even more in the developers' hands, as the keys are generated and distributed by the developer themselves, Desura just provides the means to do this.

Which stores were you talking about?

The difference is that GOG is (usually) not the publisher. Whereas EA/Valve area also publishers.

That being said, iirc, you can redeem TW 2 here. (For the same reasons).

CrasherTheLion: snip
You can only redeem the Witcher games if you already have the retail versions.
Also, for many games, GOG does a lot of work to make the games playable on modern computers.

So it's not just games - it's a service. Imaging not paying for the same game twice, but paying for the service and Win 7 support, for example.

Only with specific games for Steam. For Origin, EA have been trying to get as many as possible to use it, so they have allowed people to add most games that you can realistically prove that you own to it (i.e. those recent ones with keys)

I have most GOG games physically, however physical copies are usually unpatched a huge pain in the ass to get working. I re-buy these as they go on sale at GOG. Is it free? Nope, but it's cheap enough that I'm not bothered by it.
As said before, thanks for all of your answers.

May someone please close this?

Thanks

Generally threads here aren't closed unless there's a reason to (e.g. flamewars, spam threads). If the thread has served its purpose for you then just ignore it, it'll either fade into obscurity or continue on without you depending on how interesting people find the topic.

Did you see my post above? It had a question for you which I'm still kind of curious about:

I was talking about mainly Steam and Origin, as well as Desura.
