Did I do something to piss you off? It would seem I'm doing that a lot lately but I swear I didn't mean to.

PMIK: If you like the Fallout games then you simply must get Arcanum. It's made by the same group, and while it has many flaws, it is one of the most interesting RPG worlds and has fantastic role playing freedom.
I second this. Arcanum took me a little getting used to, but I fell in love with it.

Nope. These days I was in mood for a light colourful RTS, and I considered battle realms. Finally (comparing screenshots) I opted for warlords battlecry 3, but it turns out to not work well, much to my disappointment (of GOG's "our games are necessarily in perfect condition" policy). Your post recommends the game I had barely discarded -and possibly shouldn't have-, so, just asking.

That happens to us all. It will be discounted again. My shelf is loaded with stuff I regret buying.

It's much lighter than that - I already have these games on my backlog, it was just about guessing which one would fit my mood better. I just meant that I've installed and played one (for a few minutes before the crash) instead of the another. You just gave me an incentive to try that other one...

(Okay, been hooked on Creeper World in the meantime, but, next.)

Jade Empire.

Oriental, martial art rpg. Pretty decent story, varied quests and likeable characters. Throughout the game you learn different martial art techniques which can be seamlessly switched during combat. Different choices available to shape your character between "open palm" (humble, good) and "closed palm" (cocky, self interested and rude).
I agree about Battle Realms, I dont play RTS games much but I loved this game.

It has a really cool system - you get your peasants, which you use to harvest rice, and collect water. You dont artificially get your units - you train your peasants to be warriors. After you train a unit in one building, you can send it to another and get a combo-type situation.
Apart from that you have heroes / commanders, who have special abilities.

Units can get upgraded, gaining various attributes / abilities.

And that awesome oriental theme ;]

I have Warlords 3 on two different PCs, both with Win7, and it works perfectly...

And within your horizon, it means no problem with that game, okay.

Some consider that "certified to work at least on Licurg's configurations" is not en entirely satisfying standard.
A nice game is killswitch by Namco if i remember well.Is a solid and fan enough shooter. The way who plays make me thought that the gears of war is like an unoficial predecesor of namco's game.I hope to seen it one day in gog!

AFnord: Some games that never got the attention that they deserved, and which I really like:
Sacrifice
Outcast
System Shock 2 (not really hidden these days, everyone knows that it is great, but it did sell poorly when it was first released)
Etherlords (2 more than 1)
Gateways
Knock-Knock
Original War
Pathologic
Dark Reign
Outcast is very good!
The not hidden gems (aka everyone knows they're awesome, but I still really love mentioning them):
The Witcher
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic
Might and Magic 1-6
SimCity 2000
FTL
NWN, NWN II, IWD, IWD II, ToEE... pretty much all the DnD games.

The less talked about list that are still really, really fun:
Brütal Legend - if you like metal of any kind (heavy metal, death metal, doom metal, just hard rock) play this game.
Bard's Tale - you control a snarky jerk who has issues with the narrator. Fun times ensue. Also nice that the originals are included.
Stronghold HD - medieval castle management that makes sense.
Expeditions: Conquistador - an RPG set during conquistador times. Very solid team dynamics, choices that greatly matter, and it treats the themes very, very maturely. Well done. Combat isn't quite as good as the new XCOM but has a similar flavor.
Race the Sun - yessss! Meditative, addicting, bracing, fast, soothing, crash, smash, fly! It's fantastic and is like Spectre and a racing game had some kind of bastard love child and I adore it.
Don't Starve - kind of like Minecraft. Invent to survive. Graphics kind of remind me of a kid's picture book, the voicing is done like a silent movie where everyone is played by an instrument. It gets dark and twisted. Good fun!
Robin Hood - one of the first RPGs I played all the way to the end. I don't know why, I just really like it.
Overlord - hilarious start, but then it slows down a bit. Still really fun if you like playing the bad guy.
Sniper Eliter: Berlin 1945 - it's a FPS/Third Person hybrid. Running around is third person, shooting is more first person. The voices are bad, the theme has been done to death, and yet is still one of the few shooters I really do enjoy. It's just... satisfying. Especially when I accidentally shoot the guy in the knee that I am supposed to help. Whoops.
Geneforge, Avernum, Avadon - Spiderweb Software! Terrible graphics, phenomenal writing. Lots and lots of indepth everything. Geneforge is more individual based, Avernum and Avadon are more party based. Factions! Choices that matter! I've played them all, and they are all good except Avernum 4 (I believe it is 4, it gets a little tricky to separate them as each series is a continuous storyline. It's the Avernum without elevated terrain).
